Pre-tensioned cable mesh structures – construction principles for zoo enclosures X-TEND cable mesh acts as a self-supporting construction component, due to its high material strength and the load-bearing characteristics.

The Augsburg Zoo Aviary is an example of a cable-supported structure, being tensioned from the pylon heads above, in order to achieve as much space as possible for the birds in the interior.
