SATURDAY MARCH 9TH 2019 2:30Pm ADULTS £5 U16 FREE ADMISSION BY PROGRAM CHARD v St AUSTELL SATURDAY MARCH 9TH 2019 2:30pm Chairman’s Message Welcome to everyone including the players and committee of St Austell RFC. If you looked at the Western Counties league table after last Saturday you would probably be thinking oh no, another defeat but strange things happen in rugby…who would have thought Wales would beat England…I did!!! But then I am Welsh and that’s why I’m sure we have got a chance today. It’s a long way to travel. I hope you will all have a good look at our new kitchen, it really is something and must be the best in the West. Lots of effort went on behind the scenes by a lot of very committed individuals so a very big thank you to them from everyone in the club. Unfortunately, results didn’t go our way last Saturday, even the Wing Commanders (our 2nd XV) lost after a long winning streak, but we must look at the positives and keep the faith as we are nearly at the end of the season. The new Director of Rugby, Luke Aplin has been busy behind the scenes planning for next season and has began to look for our new Head coach as Jim takes a step down, and to expand the coaching team and of course he is recruiting new players to add depth to our teams with the emphasis on producing a first class back line which I know will be key to progressing. OK, let’s get behind the boys today – it will be tight to avoid relegation but I for one have every faith in them. Enjoy the match. We have had some great games against St Austell in recent years. Depending on who has been looking at promotions to the different leagues we have faced each other in, there have been some great encounters! However, in recent seasons, we have to admit that St Austell have had the beating of us, more often than not. A stat' that we need to overturn this afternoon! As I write this, Storm Freya has just been through, the injury list has not yet been published, but I hope we have as strong a side as we possibly can put out! Injuries have hampered our efforts recently, despite the efforts of our physio Mel'. Add to this the news that 1 or more players may also be lost to us in the run in - I hope not however. But other sides also have injuries, so we have to play the hand we are dealt. Recent news on the coaching front is equally impactful, with Jim (Waggy) coaching the side for what will be his last stint as Seniors Coach. "We thank you Jim" for your help and efforts in trying to make our players better than what they think they may be and good luck in your ventures next season. Likewise, Richard (Tiny) Baker has asked to be released from his coaching duties, to be able to take up the challenge of rowing the Atlantic, which may prove to be more difficult, than a Saturday afternoon at Essex Close! As a first step to try and steady the ship, Luke Aplin has been appointed D of R, with immediate affect and we hope Luke can bring in some of the recent "Wing Commanders" results to the 1st XV, and starting this afternoon, a win would be a massive bonus! By now, as supporters, I think we all should appreciate where we sit in the League. Despite of the efforts of all of the players and coaching staff, we are coming up short, specially away from Essex Close, more often than not! Results went against us last weekend, but we cannot rely on others, to bail us out of the brown stuff! There are only a few games left now to ensure survival in Western Counties West and play at this level again next season. Let's hope for a positive outcome this afternoon, and shout the boys on to a much needed win. Here's hoping for a great afternoon of Rugby, with Chard just shading a 5 point win! Good luck everyone. Edition 10: 20th September 2013 Rugby World Cup 2015 Lead Up and Legacy Activity The RFU launched the seven strands of its national Lead up and Legacy plan on October 31st 2012. The aim of this is to set out an overall framework against which national resource will be invested in the lead up to RWC 2015 with the aim of increasing interest and participation in the game. Whilst many Clubs, CBs, Schools, Colleges, Universities and other bodies are working hard to develop local projects to meet identified local need these seven strands are areas in which we will invest national resource to create change in Rugby communities across the country. It is hoped that those delivery bodies that have not yet identified their focus will focus in on these areas and take action to improve provision and opportunities against these themes. Six Regional Activation and Legacy Groups are now up and running and are working to add value to the seven strands and to engage partners from outside of the immediate rugby community in supporting the efforts of those within it. Each group is populated by representatives from CBs and from the wider community. Attached as an appendix to this CB update is a brief overview of progress against the seven strands along with listings of clubs/projects etc involved to date – this will be updated for each issue. In addition to the work against the seven strands strong working relationships have been established with England Rugby 2015, the Organising Body for the tournament itself, and an update on relevant areas are also included in the appendix.

  • Issue 119, Please Watch for Notices Around the Village
Polgooth Times Editorial Edition 118 I hope that everyone has had a Merry Christmas and the New Year has started well for you. Sadly times are getting tough and we all have to tighten our belts and watch our finances. The Polgooth Times will continue to arrive on your doormat for free BUT it will be a better read if we receive more local news and articles! Thanks must go to all our advertisers whose support ensures that the Polgooth Times is free to Polgooth residents, please show YOUR support to them. As I write this it still hasn’t got really cold in the village and after last winter’s very cold snap and snow at the end of the 2010; the warmer weather may be welcome to many of us. The current Cornwall Council waste collection contract terminates on 31 March 2012, please see the article on what will be happening after that. As yet whether we will see any changes in Polgooth is not known, but we may have changes to the collection day and how the collections are made, i.e. whether in plastic sacks, boxes or bins. As someone who probably needs to think more about healthy activities, I was hoping to take part in the New Year’s Day Walk around the village. Sadly this year it didn’t go ahead. I realised that Janice had co-ordinated the walk and when she left nothing was organised. I am therefore planning to have a walk later this year, ideally this would take place during one of the school breaks so that we can maximise the number of young people taking part.

They provide a visual presentation of the spatial distribution of the larger currently licensed water abstractions within defined catchments. Also shown are NRA monitoring sites for Flood Warning, Rainfall, Climate, Groundwater Status and Flow Gauging Sites. Information is current for the date displayed. The inclusion of reference numbers enables data to be accessed easily for further details as required, either internally or externally. When used in conjunction with the Water Quality Maps and Index, (report FWP/92/001) they provide a compatible display of 'activities' (within catchments). It has been necessary to display the information in two separate reports for clarity. Most abstractors of natural (non-mains) water supplies are required to hold a Licence under the Water Resources Act 1991. There are however some significant exceptions to this principle, the main ones are listed below * Abstractions from groundwater for own private domestic use where quantity is less than 20 cubic metres per day. * Abstractions from inland waters (surface water) on abstractors own property for either agricultural and/or own private domestic use, provided that the aggregate quantity for those uses is less than twenty cubic metres per day.
