FINAL REPORT 1 | P a g e Salcombe Bioblitz 2015 – Final Report Salcombe Bioblitz 2015 This year’s Bioblitz was held in North Sands, Salcombe (Figure 1). Surveying took place from 11am on Sunday the 27th September until 2pm on Monday the 28th September 2015. Over the course of the 24+ hours of the event, 11 timetabled, public-participation activities took place, including scientific surveys and guided walks. More than 250 people attended, including 75 local school children, and over 150 volunteer experts and enthusiasts, families and members of the public. A total of 1109 species were recorded. Introduction A Bioblitz is a multidisciplinary survey of biodiversity in a set place at a set time. The main aim of the event is to make a snapshot of species present in an area and ultimately, to raise public awareness of biodiversity, science and conservation. The event was the seventh marine/coastal Bioblitz to be organised by the Marine Biological Association (MBA). This year the MBA led in partnership with South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Ambios Ltd, with both organisations contributing vital funding and support for the project overall. Ambios Ltd were able to provide support via the LEMUR+ wildlife.technology.skills project and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Support also came via donations from multiple organisations. Xamax Clothing Ltd provided the iconic event t-shirts free of cost; Salcombe Harbour Hotel and Spa and Monty Hall’s Great Escapes donated gifts for use as competition prizes; The Winking Prawn Café and Higher Rew Caravan and Camping Park offered discounts to Bioblitz staff and volunteers for the duration of the event; Morrisons Kingsbridge donated a voucher that was put towards catering; Budget Car Hire provided use of a van to transport equipment to and from the event free of cost; and donations were received from kind individuals. -

Appendix3.2 Local Lettings Plan Between Plymouth City Council (PCC), South Hams District Council (SHDC) and Devon and Cornwall Housing (DCH) Background The s106 Agreement defines the Local Lettings Plan as “the guiding principles to be applied as a sensitive lettings and nominations policy for Affordable Housing as set out in Appendix 3.2 to this Deed or as shall be amended by written agreement between the Parties from time to time” This Local Lettings Plan is based on Appendix 3.2 of the s106 Agreement “Principles of the Local Lettings Plan”. 1. Purpose of Local Lettings Plan The principal purpose of the Local Lettings Plan is to guide the allocation of all initial and future vacancies of Affordable Housing (social and affordable rents) at the Development, in both Plymouth and South Hams, to Eligible Households. The Local Lettings Plan will be used to prepare shortlists of nominations for the Affordable Housing Units at the Development and will assist in the final selection of successful of eligible applicants. This Local Lettings Plan will be reviewed should a signatory cease to be a partner of Devon Home Choice or a local authority amends it’s Allocation Policy in regards to how to priorities are determined. 2. Objectives of the Local Lettings Plan The objectives of this Local Lettings Plan: establish and sustain a mixed, stable and economically vibrant community at the development; foster a sense of ownership and community; promote equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice in housing allocations; increase choice for applicants; learn from the profile of successful developments similar in form and density to the Development that have matured over a number of years; facilitate effective management of the development; minimise void levels and rent loss 3. -

Top price of the day was given for a pen of four outstanding pure bred yearling Simmental steers from Alan Brazier of Poltimore at a whopping £1170 apiece whilst another quality bunch of four Simmental bullocks (18m) eased to £1075 a head for Stephen Pearce of Liskeard. A couple of grand Charolais steers (25m) from the Shervington Family, Hittisleigh reached £1150 closely followed by a smart South Devon steer (20m) from Rob & Sue Greep, Cornwood at £1135, the latter also saw tremendous red Limousin steers (18m) make £1110. Groups of well farmed Aberdeen Angus steers (24m) ran to £1085 and £1080 for Russell & Alyson Retter of Cotleigh with later born Angus steers (16m) rising to £1075 for Peter Hendy of Plymouth. No really strong British Blue steers on offer although a group of four very decent Blues (25m) did reach £1040 for Garry Dunn of Okehampton whilst younger store steers saw a stunning Beef Shorthorn cross (11m) from Peter & Jake Chisholm of Hatherleigh make a creditable £980 and a pair of young (13m) Simmental steers from John & Jill Redman, Chagford saw £950 a life. -

Don’t smoke in the cottage Don’t allow pets in the living rooms, upstairs, in the bedrooms or on the furniture. Also please don’t leave them unattended in the cottage. Don’t allow dogs to chase sheep or cattle and always keep dogs on a lead when on the farm. Playcroft was originally three thatched properties dating back at least two centuries and the history of ownership goes back well over a hundred years. During the twentieth century the houses were converted into one unit and the roof rebuilt to a more modern standard. Playcross has a very attractive rear elevation which looks out over the main garden which is a delightful and fairly level lawn interspersed with a number of colourful trees and shrubs. The present owners, who have lived in Playcroft for many years, take a delight in their garden and it is a profusion of colour in the spring and early summer. In addition to the back is a further large garden to the side of the property which also has an area of lawn, flowers, a large variety of plants and is enclosed by mature beech hedgerows and fencing. In this part of the garden is the detached, single garage, large woodshed (which is large enough to take a table tennis table), greenhouse and small outhouse immediately behind the house with its own fireplace. This outhouse is block built, and also has a quarry tiled floor, storage heater, power and light and a lean to coal/woodstore adjoining it. There are some lovely views from the garden and particularly from the first floor windows to the property. -
