An amusement park was added on the widened Pier in 1916, featuring a carousel and roller coaster. The breakwater, creating the yacht harbor, was completed in 1934.Since that time, the Pier has undergone several cycles of despair and rebirth. In 1996, a totally rebuilt Pier was reopened with an aquarium, carousel and multiple food and "fun" venues.

His large Beaux Arts mansion (now the Art Gallery), the library building and the 120-acre Botanical Gardens welcome more than 500,000 visitors each year. We are fortunate that Karen Braley Reynolds, a Huntington Fellow, has arranged for docents to guide us through British Art (the main gallery), silver, American Art, the library, or the gardens depending on our specific areas of interest. Wandering the exhibits and gardens on your own, or with the guide(s) -- either will be an incredible experience.

At 12:30 P.M., we will have a lunch in the Rose Garden Tea Room at the Huntington. Overlooking three acres of roses, the Tea Room is the perfect setting to enjoy a pot of tea, scones and an array of savory finger sandwiches, cheeses, salads, fruits and desserts.
