All information included in this document is intended solely to provide historical information regarding previous Festivals to further offeror’s understanding of the scope and magnitude of the Festival. This document does not convey the Library’s intent to procure and produce all of the same items, nor to procure and/or produce them in the same way for future Festivals.
Overview of Library of Congress National Book Festival Staff Duties
The Library of Congress National Book Festival is one of the Library’s signature programs that requires extensive planning and effort. The Library of Congress oversees the conceptual vision and overall management of the Festival and its staff; however, there is a great deal of support needed from contractor. The Statement of Work describes the contractual needs to support the execution of the Library of Congress National Book Festival. In addition to the work outlined in the Statement of Work, Library of Congress staff perform the following duties to support the Festival:
• Overall Festival management; • Author management: author selection, author communications, author and programming related content such as Festival programs, author biographies and web application content; • Graphic Design: design all collateral such as printed signs, volunteer t-shirts, credentials, advertisements; • Development: secure sponsors and donors; sponsor and donor management; • Multimedia: records and edits content; • Web Development: update and maintain loc.gov/bookfest; • Volunteer management: recruit, train and oversee over 1,200 Festival volunteers; • Communications Office: social media, marketing, and advertisements; • Security: create overall physical security plan for the Festival, monitor security throughout the event; • Hospitality: onsite catering, volunteer lunches, VIP refreshments.
