To the P resident cmd M embers of the Centra l Conference ofAmerican

— GENTLB M ENI The Committee on Union Hymnal begs leave to report that the sale of the book is constantly growing and that the of n n number congregatio s usi g the same is on the increase . The first two editions are completely exhausted as also a considerable i i n ' port on of the th rd edition. The stock o hand when sold will liquidate the entire indebtedness and will leave a balance of about r n i two hund ed a d fifty dollars n the treasury . The fact th at every successive session of the Conference has discussed a rev ision of the r n i n i book has greatly etarded its general i troduct o . It is the op nion n n n of the Committee that , si ce the book has give sa tisfactio wher v it n n r for u n n e er has bee i t oduced , as well as b si ess reaso s , it l t r should be al owed o emain undisturbed at least a decade . A revised edition would not only entail a considerable outlay to the n n but n n n Co fere ce , would also make the more tha seve thousa d i t cop es that have so far been sold useless . The Commi tee would recommend that those who have any improvements to suggest either to the text or to the music shoul d ma ke their recommends tions t o the Committee 80 tha t whenever a revised and enl arge d edition should be decided upon their suggestions could be taken i into considerat on.
