Brown regarding the display of The Lily in a special exhibit at the World Columbian Exposition in Chicago, and its subsequent deposition at the New York State Library. The Lily, edited and published by Amelia Bloomer, ca. 1849-1853, was one of the first periodicals concerned with women's suffrage and related topics. Also included is a news clipping written and annotated by Amelia Bloomer regarding her involvement with the Lily. Bloomer was a social reformer and advocate of women's suffrage. She was known for a style of dress reform for women, which became known as bloomers.
