EAST FORK TRAIL #1662 to #1661 to #1670 TRAIL BEGINNING:

Two Pan Trailhead, East Fork Lostine River Trail

TRAIL ENDING:

Two Pan Trailhead

ACCESS:

Take State Highway #82 to Lostine and go south on the Lostine River Road #8210. The trailhead is located 17 miles south of the junction with State Highway #82. The first 6 miles is a paved road and the last 11 miles is graveled.

ATTRACTIONS:

After several switchbacks, the trail opens into a beautiful valley with excellent opportunities for photography. The valley floor is full of lush vegetation and wildflowers with mountain ridges on both sides. Ivan Carper Pass #1661 overlooks the Lakes Basin area and affords you a panoramic view of Eagle Cap peak. The trail between Mirror and Minam Lake (#1661) is quite steep but passable to stock. Dispersed camping is available at Mirror and Minam Lakes but make sure you follow the Eagle Cap Wilderness Regulations. Blue Lake is located approximately 1 mile south of Minam Lake and surrounds you with beautiful scenery, but limited camping. The best fishing for brook trout is July through September, depending on weather conditions. There are two stream fords on the #1670 trail back down to the Two Pan Trailhead.

CONSIDERATIONS: Northwest Forest Passes are required at the Two Pan Trailhead.

This trail takes you into the Lakes Basin which is one of the most heavily used areas in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Refer to the Eagle Cap Wilderness Regulations. The trailhead has an 8 unit campground with an outhouse, stock water, hitch rails, unloading ramp, picnic tables, and fishing.
