Term 3 Newsletter 12/20 24 Sept 2020

Phone/Absence Line 04 902 5596 [email protected]

Dear Parents and Guardians

This is the last newsletter for the term. Next term, the first newsletter will come out in Week 3 as Team Kapiti will be away on camp at Teapot Valley, just out of Nelson. I am looking forward to spending some time with the Year 7 & 8 students. Feedback Friday will also take a break until Week 3.

This has been another interesting term! Opening refurbished buildings, events planned, events postponed, Covid levels up then down we have certainly had it all. I would like to thank the staff who have despite all the unknowns continued to be flexible and change their programmes when required. I would also like to acknowledge our parent community who continue to work with us through what are very uncertain times.

TEAM KAPITI YEAR 7 & 8 CAMP Despite some early uncertainty, the biannual camp to Teapot Valley takes place the first two weeks of Term 4. The students have been preparing throughout this term and I know they are very much looking forward to going away on this adventure. A big thank you to those parents who have volunteered to help out and to those of you who supported the fundraising.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL RECRUITMENT The positions have been advertised nationally and applications close on Tuesday 27th October. Interviews are scheduled for early in November. Once we have completed the process we will let you know the outcome.

COHORT ENTRY PROPOSAL School is proposing to start cohort entry in 2021. This means students will start with a group of their peers who will all be 5 within the same 5 weeks. Cohort entry is about helping children to settle better in school. There's evidence that starting school alongside other children helps children build relationships and supports a smoother entry to school life.

They will visit school together and begin their Raumati Beach School journey on set dates. These dates for 2021 are:

This is your opportunity to share your thoughts and feedback on the proposed cohort entry for 2021. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2DF7N2J.
