6-18-12 Creedence Clearwater Tribute Band to Play City of Bristol Tennessee __________________________________________ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Darlene Cole, Venue Manager Monday, June 18, 2012 Department of Community Relations Phone: 423-764-4171 E-Mail: [email protected] Creedence Clearwater Tribute Band to Play Downtown Center Creedence Clearwater Revival, or Creedence as some recall them, does that name not bring back memories that include songs like Bad Moon Rising, Fortunate Son, Susie Q, and Centerfold? All from an era when rock consisted of a musical style that encompassed country rock and swamp rock genres. Creedence sung about the bayous, the Mississippi River, catfish and other popular elements of Southern iconography. CCR’s music was a staple of American life during the late 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The Downtown Center will host the Blue Moon Swamp band a John Fogerty/CCR Tribute band reproducing the concert experience of the American icons. Blue Moon Swamp treats audiences to a powerful, authentic musical journey through some of the best American rock and roll ever recorded. The band provides both a dynamic and visually entertaining live event for all audience types. Blue Moon Swamp will perform on Thursday, July 5th at 7:00 P.M. in the Downtown Center located at 810 State Street. “This is our third concert in the Tribute series and the response has been phenomenal. We are so excited to see the crowds grow and the people having so much fun,” said Darlene Cole, Venue Manager for the Department of Community Relations which oversees the city’s downtown concert series, Full Moon Jam. Seating will be provided but lawn chairs are welcomed. Concessions and restrooms are available on site. There is no charge for the event. Invaluable in times of peace, it is indispensable in wartime. All those who are working in the entertainment industry are building and maintaining national morale both on the battlefront and on the home front. 1 Franklin D. Roosevelt, June 12, 1943 Whether or not we admit it, societies change in wartime. It is safe to say that after every war in America’s history, society undergoes large changes or embraces new mores, depending on the extent to which war has affected the nation. Some of the “smaller wars” in our history, like the Mexican-American War or the Spanish-American War, have left little traces of change that scarcely venture beyond some territorial adjustments and honorable mentions in our textbooks. While some of these large social shifts may be easy to spot, such as the GI Bill or the baby boom phenomenon in the 1940s and 1950s, it is also interesting to consider the changed ways of thinking in modern societies as a result of war and the degree to which information is filtered.

    May 21, 1997--- LOS ANGELES---The clouds of mystery are lifting over the mountainside studio where John Fogerty is rehearsing for his first extended live shows in more than a decade. Wearing a green plaid workshirt and pressed blue jeans, the creative force behind Creedence Clearwater Revival is preparing to hit the road to promote his new "Blue Moon Swamp" record, released Tuesday on Warner Bros. But the majority of the dates in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago will consist of Creedence hits. Fronting a quartet, Fogerty will even play some of the classics through vintage '60s gear. Fogerty has never leaned on Creedence songs as a solo act. Coming to terms with the past may account for the clarity of "Blue Moon Swamp." Full of dobros, guitars and passionate vocals, it is Fogerty's most rootsy album since his self-titled 1975 solo debut. Then again, maybe the clarity was already in place. "It came first," Fogerty says before rehearsal. "I get a lot of the clarity from my wife, Julie (Kramer, who hails from Elkhart, Ind.). Her positiveness helps me every day. That spilled over into my directness with the music, and I became very clear with who I should be. And that's a good thing to know, because there's been times in my life where I wasn't that sure. This engaging and very challenging interval profile is a fun game that requires student input to help decide the next interval. It will take a little organization on your part. You’ll need to create index cards for each song and let your students pick the card from a bag as if they are trick-or-treating (make sure to borrow a Halloween bag from your kids)! The card they pick will be your next “trick” and the “treats” will be the recoveries in between. You’ll have to line up your songs carefully in your iPod so they are easy to scroll to. I’ve included a screenshot of my playlist in iTunes so you can see how I lined mine up. The total is 65 minutes. You can drop Bad Moon Rising and end a little earlier if you must end at an hour. Or, if you only have 45 minutes, choose 5 of your favorite “tricks” from the list, and shorten the profile. There are two warm-up songs and 7 drills that make up the tricks ranging from 3- 1/2 to 5-1/2 minutes. They are either consistent efforts for the full time (most at threshold) or they consist of shorter high-intensity surges with short recoveries. Most are climbs, one is a fast flat, and one contains 3 sprints in 5 minutes. The treats are the recovery songs of 2-1/2 to 3 minutes long.

Their music embodies the essence of rock ‘n roll and they should have received more acclaim and recognition. They’re not the Beatles, not the Stones, not the Beach Boys. They generated a sound of their own and they deserve to be in that lofty league. CCR has sold 28 million records in the United States alone and Rolling Stone ranked them 82nd on its Artists of all Time list. On November 16, 1969, they performed “Fortunate Son” and “Down on the Corner” on the Ed Sullivan Show. Watch Here Now, let’s go back in time to Woodstock, the summer of 1969. Creedence was there! Depending on what you believe and what you read, as soon as a big-name group showed up, they were pushed back. Subsequently, Creedence was never included in the Woodstock movie or the album. Sadly, the group split up in the early 1970s and it wasn’t pretty.
