Submitted Photo 14 New Master Naturalists The Eastern Shore Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists celebrated the graduation of 14 new members on Nov. 8. Every Thursday for 10 weeks, par- ticipants attended courses exploring the ecology, botany, insects, marine life, mammals, reptiles, birds, and the barrier islands of the Eastern Shore. The new graduates will join 132 existing chapter members currently volunteering in Accomack and Northampton Counties. In 2017 alone, Master Naturalists volunteered more than 7,000 hours on projects that helped conserve and manage the natural resources and public lands of the Virginia Eastern Shore.

The Eastern Shore Master Naturalists would like to especially recognize Brandon Cook, of Onancock, who was able to meet all requirements to become a Master Naturalist with support from No Limits Eastern Shore. He has a strong passion for nature and is especially interested in native plants. The Eastern Shore Chapter is proud of his hard work and looks forward to his continued participation in volunteer activities.

The 2018 Master Naturalist graduates are: Jennifer Alley, of Cape Charles; Bill Ballard, of Cape Charles; Brandon Cook, of Onancock; Walter Dan- iels, of Craddockville; Sally Dick, of Cairnbrook, Pa.; Kyle Fulk, of Onancock; Ruth Lane, of Chincoteague; Maggie Long, of Painter; Sherry Moran, of Cape Charles; Suzanne Noseworthy, of Eastville; Cindy Ray, of Virginia Beach, Va.; Paul Tiffany, of Cape Charles; Wayne Valentine, of Belle Haven; and Sandi Wurtz, of Exmore.
