OVERVIEW A weak system on Thursday morning now looks like it will bring an inch or two of snow to many valley areas, right around the morning commute me. This storm looks like more of a "southern" system, which will mainly impact areas from the and southward - especially over southeastern . The storm looks like it will weaken somewhat as it moves eastward into the Magic Valley during the aernoon. The mountains north of the Treasure Valley should see less snow from this system. More snow is expected from several other storms over the weekend and into early next week. WEATHER IMPACTS Treasure Valley of Oregon and Slick roads from snow showers, especially around the morning commute me on Thursday morning. MODERATE Confidence Mainly between Ontario and Mountain Home. Southeast Oregon (mainly Harney and Malheur Counes) Slick roads from snow showers - especially on U.S. Highway 95 from Jordan Valley south to , HIGH Confidence U.S. Highway 20 from Vale to Burns, and Oregon State Highway 78 from Burns to Rome. FORECAST DETAILS Treasure Valley of Oregon and Idaho Expecng generally 1 to 2 inches of accumulaon between about 5am and 11am on Thursday morning. Some models have a bit more - so locally up to 4 inches are possible - but we think that is likely overdone. This system is weak, but we feel fairly confident that all of the Treasure Valley will get at least SOME snow. The ming of this storm, near the morning commute period, will likely lead to more impacts than other recent storms. Southeast Oregon (mainly Harney and Malheur Counes) Expecng generally 1 to 3 inches of accumulaon between about 2am and 8am on Thursday morning. Local amounts of up to 4 inches are more likely here - mainly in southern Malheur County. MEDIA ASSISTANCE REQUESTED Although snow amounts with this system are expected to be relavely light, the combinaon of very cold temperatures over the past few days, and the early morning ming of this storm, means that any snow will likely sck to roads and cause commute problems. Futhermore, there have not been very many morning snowfall commute events this winter for the major populaon centers in the Treasure Valley, so drivers may not be as used to winter driving condions as they should be for late February.
