Withdrawn: 795/8

The withdrawal of 795/8, the last Volvo B10BLEs means that we now have no Volvo buses in the fleet, breaking a link going back to 1995 when 601 (N601 NJO) was delivered. Both 795 and 798 are now being used as driver training vehicles.

Reliveried:

During April and May, there are a number of livery changes taking place, and our fleetlist now shows these, although some remain to be completed.

640-3 will stand down from all-day service at the end of May. They will act as Q-busters during the summer months and for the start of the new term at Oxford Brookes University. They will then be withdrawn permanently, when the bus fleet will be 100% low floor.

Vehicle Withdrawn: 825 (MD52 OXF) written off following fire damage

New Service Vehicles: 986/7 (GP07 SXB/K) Vauxhall Combi Service Vehicles Withdrawn: 984/5 (RIL 4910/1) to Go West Midlands Ltd.

Note that the Volvo B10M to be converted to a driver training vehicle as 961 will now be former 16 (V284 SBW) and not 17.

The mix-up involving the DVLA over registrations for coaches 81-90 has been resolved, and the ‘OXF’ marks will be restored shortly (although 83 will not be able to resume CB07 OXF).

Acquired Vehicle (ex Go North East): 904 NK51 UCL Dennis Trident Plaxton H47/28F new 2001 (on loan from 7/06, did not enter service until 11/06) This is the first of a batch of eight similar buses which will come from Go North East for use on service 35 and miscellaneous duties. They will be all fitted with a GPS based warning system for the low bridge at Oxford Rail Station. The whole batch will be converted to H47/30F in due course.

Vehicles Out: 898-899 to Wilts & Dorset (ex long term loan) 403-7/9-11 to Go West Midlands 604 to Go West Midlands 70 awaiting sale

Allocation: With the intake of these vehicles, Dennis Tridents 101-105 are generally now used as spare float vehicles, with the exception of one on service 4.

Vehicles withdrawn: 412, 612 – both awaiting disposal

Allocation: Following a dramatic rise in the number of passengers using service X3, two additional journeys are being introduced in the am peak, which may be operated by 600 series Volvos, until the next round of vehicle investment. 603-605 and 607 were due to be withdrawn, but are retained on fleet temporarily to cover this work and for the summer language schools duplicates.

Note: The vehicle withdrawals are the result of loss of contracted work on services 14 and 16.

These vehicles are on loan from Wilts & Dorset to cover additional activity on the Oxford- Abingdon direct service. They were delivered to Oxford direct from Mercedes and will enter service on 27th March.

Vehicles withdrawn:

612: 3/06, following a minor fire in the engine compartment. Awaiting a decision on its future. 9, 10 and 12: not used since service changes on 29.01.06. They remain licensed but are considered withdrawn.

Volvo 801 has been refurbished and repainted into “City 5” livery, in the same style as the latest Mercedes Citaros for “City 2”. The whole batch of 801-821 will be treated similarly, and branded either “City 5”, “City 15” or a generic “City” livery. 821 is the next to be so treated; individual buses will not be reported in this update but will appear on the official fleetlist available from our website. ______

The new Citaros (branded for city 2) entered service today following a launch by Lord Mayor Bob Price on 1st December. For full details of chassis numbers etc. refer to the official fleet list.

Disposals: 646 to be retained for conversion to driver training vehicle 647-655 to Solent Blueline. 647-50 are awaiting conversion to single door, 651-5 should be dispatched to SBL during the coming week.

Reinstated: 10, to put more resource into the X90 Oxford espress service, to maintain timetable in the face of ever-worsening congestion.

11th November 2005

Reinstated:

655 has been returned to service, to ensure that the programme of converting batch 651-4 to single door configuration is accelerated.

12 (after reregistration, see below) has been returned to service, as an additional X90 coach to cope with severe congestion in the afternoon peak.

Withdrawn: 655/6 (K129/30 BUD) Volvo B10B/NCME B43F; 959 (G781 WFC).

Disposals: 655/6 Solent Blueline; 959 Wilts & Dorset (for spares)

Note: 655/6 were converted from B43D to B43F at Oxford and both worked for OBC to this configuration, with no additional seats fitted in the space created by the removal of the centre exit. The seats will be fitted at Solent Blueline and be recertified as B47F.

These withdrawals are the result of the completion of the final set of major roadworks in Oxford, in Abingdon Road. These works resulted in additional vehicles being required for service to maintain the registered timetable.

30th October 2005

Mercedes Citaro 837 (X7 OXF) was loaned to sister company Solent Blueline for one day to check for clearances at their depot, pending the arrival of similar new SBL vehicles. It was not used in service.

Coaches withdrawn as a result of the introduction of winter timetables on express services are as follows:

70 and 71 are on loan to Solent Blueline.

16th October 2005

With the virtual completion of roadworks on Cowley Road, we have been able to revert to our normal timetable, thus reducing our vehicle requirement. Accordingly, the following disposals have been made:

606 (N606 NJO) and 628 (N416 NRG) to Wilts and Dorset.

In addition, 656 (K130 BUD) is being converted to single-door configuration in anticipation of its transfer to Solent Blueline.

Training bus 972 (C66 HOM) has been sold to Woottens, Chesham.

Coach services have switched to their winter timetables which has resulted in a number of coaches being withdrawn and stored. Fleet numbers will be given shortly.

We currently have no vehicles on loan.

Following service changes, two buses have been withdrawn and sold:

602 (N602 FJO) to Wilts and Dorset. Last day of use 2nd July; left Oxford 6th July 644 (K118 BUD) to Bicester Youth Bus Project. Last day of use 8th July. Still on premises.

Wilts & Dorset are a sister company within the Go-Ahead Group. OBC are sponsoring the Bicester Youth Bus Project by helping to convert 644 to a specification appropriate to the needs of the project.
