William Fleming

2020 Delegate Candidate for the South Region American Solidarity Party

Hello! My name is William Fleming but you can call me Bill. I’m an Environmental Engineer currently living in Hapeville GA. I have been passionate about politics for a while and think that the government can be a valuable tool to materially impact the lives of our citizens in a positive way. I discovered ASP within the last year and am looking forward to getting more involved in my state. I am also currently a candidate for Executive Vice Chair of the state of Georgia. Outside of work, my primary interests are art, economics, and theology. I am Catholic and currently am a parishioner at a Jesuit parish here in Georgia. I love to write and am an amatuer stone sculptor. I have been sculpting for about 3 years. If any of our members from the Southern Region have attended the Marble festival in Sylacauga, Alabama in 2018 or 2019 you may have seen me there!

If you want to ask me anything or just say hello feel free to send me an email at [email protected]

1 William Fleming Q&A

Re: My vision for the next Stage of Party development: I would like to see the national committee focus on supporting the state committees, I would like to see us running local and statewide candidates in the near future. I would also like to see us participating more in advocacy for policy positions that we support by participating in civil demonstrations and in collaborating with other groups on common causes to make progress on policy

Re: What tasks should be set for the National Committee: I would like to see the National Committee put effort into building a presence in the states where we currently are not represented and establishing State Committees in those states. This is easier said than done but I think it should be a top priority.

Re: My position on whether to retain a Statement of Principles: I do believe so yes I think it would help with revising the platform in the future and ensuring that any policy that we are advocating for in the future remains in line with those core principles.

Re: What should be on any Statement of Principles: Whole Life, Solidarity, , Affirm Human .

Re: What is my stance on pro-life advocacy: I think it is an important part of getting pro-life policy implemented the party absolutely needs to support civil demonstrations and public advocacy for the policies that we support.

Re: What is my stance on Distributism: Both Capitalism and Socialism are gravely evil. Distributism is the only moral economic system. It is achievable through many small regulatory reforms, this is not to say that it would be easy to achieve as there are many regulations that would need to be repealed and many that would need to be strengthened to get there but I do believe it is possible.
