Revelation

Session 40 “The Harlot”

Revelation 14

Some of you will know what this is, and some may not. It is called a “Sickle”. ➢ Definition - the cutting mechanism (as of a reaper, combine, or mower) consisting of a bar with a series of cutting elements. The inside of the blade's curve is sharp, so that the user can either draw or swing it against the base of the crop, catching the stems in the curve and slicing them at the same time. The material to be cut may be held in a bunch in the other hand (for example when reaping), held in place by a wooden stick, or left free. When held in a bunch, the sickle action is typically towards the user (left to right for a right-handed user), but when used free the sickle is usually swung the opposite way. Other colloquial/regional names for principally the same tool are grass hook, swap hook, rip-hook, slash-hook, reaping hook, brishing hook or bagging hook.

Revelation ➢ Why tell you this ----Look at Revelation 14:16 ➢ will swing His sharp “sickle” over the earth. ➢ Many of the remaining unbelievers will try to run and hide because they are filled with terror. ➢ Others will beg, cry, and plead ---but it will be too late. ➢ They will have wasted their last chance---He will take multitudes and cast them into the Lake of Fire (the everlasting fire). Revelation 14:17 ➢ Another angel will come out of the very presence of God with another “sickle” just like the one Jesus will have. Revelation 14:18 ➢ Still another angel will come from the Alter of God (:3 talks about this alter). ➢ This is the alter where the Tribulation saints call upon God to avenge their blood ➢ The angel in verse 18 will encourage the angel in verse 5 to gather the clusters of grapes from the Earth’s vine (Because the grapes are ripe--- remember we said last week that this could mean on the verge or at the point of being rotten). ➢ Since Jesus is the “True Vine” it is likely that the Earth’s vine is a reference to the Antichrist and those that follow him. ➢ The cluster of grapes will be the first fruit of the Earth’s vine or those nations that follow the Antichrist. ➢ So, what does this verse actually mean----- two things ➢ 1). God will eventually answer the prayers of the Tribulation Saints who are crying out for revenge. Monologue for tonight -----Notice: God answers prayers in HIS TIME! Our Arena cover is a prime example of that----how long have people been wanting this arena covered----at least 9 years that I know of----God chose to wait 9 full years before answering this prayer. Is it possible that we give up on God way to quickly because He does not answer prayer in our time frame? Revelation ➢ 2). The wickedness of the earth will be great. God does not always answer prayers right away ---but He does not let them go unanswered forever. Neither will He let wicked nations or individuals deny Him forever. There are three Harvests in the : 1). The harvest of “first fruit” – the 144,000 – Revelation 14:4 2). The Harvest by Jesus – unbelievers - Revelation 14:14-16 3). The Harvest of the Angel – unbelievers – Revelation 14:18-20 Note: many unbelievers will survive –but those who do will be removed at the end of the tribulation period (Matthew 13:41-43 & 49-50)

Revelation 14:19 ➢ The fifth angel will use his great “sickle” to gather the wicked nations of the earth. He will throw them into the winepress of God’s wrath. ➢ Now picture what a farmer does when he harvests grapes and throws immediately into a wine press---destroying the grape and squeezing the juice out of them. ➢ The same thing will happen to the wicked when this angel harvests the earth. They will be like a grape being squashed in the winepress.

Revelation 14:20 ➢ This scripture is a reference to the battle of . The wicked people will be trampled in the winepress of God’s wrath. ➢ People will be crushed by the fine brass feet of Jesus like grapes under the feet of a large man. ➢ Blood will rise as high as horses’ bridles for approximately 200 miles and millions will die. ➢ Before this happens, God will preach through the 144,000 Jews, the two witnesses, and His angel (the first angel of chapter 14). Revelation ➢ He will also send the third angel (Chapter 14) to warn those once again who are following the Antichrist. He will give the world many chances to repent before He destroys it. ➢ Muslims believe in the Battle of Armageddon but the call it “the mother of all battles”. ➢ This name that the Muslims use comes from the Koran ( the twisted Islamic version of the ). ➢ The Koran teaches that Allah will help Islam with this great battle (which by the way—this is partially why religious fanatics are pushing the war on Terrorism) ➢ Some misguided Islamic militants believe they can trigger the Battle of Armageddon and win. While it is doubtful that many will survive to see a war like this, if they do, they will get that great battle they so desire---but their outcome will NOT be that of the Koran. ➢ The Bible tells us that when John saw Jesus feet, they were like feet of fine brass---refined in the fire.

CHAPTER 15

➢ Chapter 15 is the shortest chapter in the book of Revelation ➢ It is the introduction to chapter 16 of Revelation ➢ This is an introduction to the 7 Bowl Judgments ➢ It predicts what will go on in heaven just before the final judgment fall.

Revelation 15:1

➢ This will be the third of the three great signs from heaven ➢ First, the sun-clothed woman (Israel) ➢ Second – the Great Red Dragon (Satan) ➢ Third- 7 angels with 7 plagues. Revelation ➢ This will be a great sign because of its terrible nature and amazing results. ➢ This will bring on the “Full Wrath of God” ➢ This will cause the fall of Satan and his demons. ➢ These plagues will be called “the last plagues” and will be God’s final warning to an unrepentant world. ➢ When these plagues are over, all of those who have not decided to side with God through Jesus will stand before the judgement of unbelievers and perish.

Revelation 15:2

➢ This will be a second “glassy sea” to appear in heaven. The first will be clear as crystal. This one will be mixed with fire. ➢ The sea will symbolize the masses of humanity, and the fire represents judgment. ➢ The tribulation saints will come up out of the sea of humanity . They will have been in a fiery persecution . They are those who have been victorious over and his image and over the number of his name. ➢ They will not be deceived by the Antichrist or his False Prophet. ➢ They will be ordered to take the mark of the beast, but they will NOT take it. ➢ They will face torture and death as a result of their refusal. ➢ Victory will still be theirs because they chose to lose their earthly life but gain their heavenly, eternal life. ➢ When they reach heaven, God will give them harps. Harps will sooth their earthly woes caused by all the pain and suffering they endured. They will sing and they will play. QUOTE: Hal Lindsey – “Real victory is not found in seeking to avoid conflicts and living a “don’t rock the boat kind of life”. The cemetery is full of those kinds of people. The kind of triumph these martyrs of the tribulation period will experience will be deliverance through fire, not out of it”. Revelation 15:3 Revelation

➢ The tribulation saints will sing two songs---1). The song of (which most theologians believe was written by Merriam) 2). The song of The Lamb ➢ The song of Moses (found in the Old Testament) celebrates Gods victory He gave the Israelites when He brought them out of Egypt. ➢ The Song of the Lamb is found is found in this verse. It celebrates God’s victory over all the nations. The deeds of Jesus are great and mighty because He died for the sins of the world and defeated death, Satan and Hell! Jesus is Just and True in all His ways---He is the eternal King—the King of ALL AGES! ➢ The one who will reign forever and forever!

AMEN!!!!!
