Lapis and Peridot Episode 1: Homeworld Pumpkin

EXT. LAPIS AND PERIDOT'S BARN - DAY
PERIDOT, a crystal gem who's short and green with a triangle shaped hairstyle, is lounging on a beach chair next to their man-made pond playing a game on her tablet. She loses the game, and she stands up and throws her tablet in frustration.
PERIDOT Aarrghh!
Peridot sits back down on the beach chair. After a moment Peridot gets up and gets her tablet. She returns to the chair and continues to play on her tablet.
EXT. TRUCK BALCONY - DAY
LAPIS, a crystal gem who's taller and blue; she has a short blue bob, is sitting in the bed of the truck and watching tv.
Peridot stands beneath the bed of the truck looking up at Lapis.
PERIDOT LAPIS!
Lapis ignores Peridot's yelling and continues watching tv.
PERIDOT LAPIS!
Lapis continues to ignore Peridot.
PERIDOT LAAAPIIIIS!
Lapis rolls her eyes and begins to get up. Just as she's about to stand up Peridot flies up right in front of her on the lid of a garbage can. Lapis falls back down onto the bed of the truck.
PERIDOT Lapis!
LAPIS Peridot, you scared me.
Peridot gets off of the trash can lid and sits it to the side. She sits directly in front of the tv. Lapis attempts to look around her to see the tv.

PERIDOT Lapis, I'm bored.
LAPIS So, go play on your tablet.
PERIDOT That's what I've been doing. I want to go do something else.
Lapis pushes Peridot to the side so she can see the tv again.
LAPIS So, go do something else.
PERIDOT I don't wanna go alone. I'll look like a loser.
LAPIS Then take Pumpkin with you.
PERIDOT Come with me.
LAPIS Peridot, I'm watching tv right now.
PERIDOT But I'm boored.
Lapis takes the remote and turns the tv off.
LAPIS Fine. What do you want to do?
PERIDOT I don't know.
Lapis glares at Peridot.
PERIDOT Ooh, let's go to Homeworld.
LAPIS No.
PERIDOT What? Why not?

LAPIS Why would you want to go to Homeworld?
PERIDOT I wanna see what's new since we were there last. Even when we were there last we didn't get to explore and you haven't seen Homeworld in thousands of years!
LAPIS I don't want to go to Homeworld Peridot.
PERIDOT Pleeease
LAPIS No.
PERIDOT Oh come on. Besides Pumpkin's never seen Homeworld.
Lapis rolls her eyes.
LAPIS Fine. Let's go to Homeworld. We'll have to take the warp pad in Little Homeworld to get there though.
PERIDOT Yes! I'll go get Pumpkin.
Peridot jumps back onto her trash can lid. She flies down to the ground. Lapis rolls her eyes and spreads her wings, which are made of water. She flies down to the ground.
EXT. LAPIS AND PERIDOT'S BARN - DAY
Peridot is chasing PUMPKIN, a living jack-o-lantern that is Lapis and Peridot's pet, around. Lapis is sitting in the beach chair waiting for Peridot to catch Pumpkin. The chase occurs in the background behind Lapis.
PERIDOT Pumpkin get over here!
Pumpkin runs from Peridot. She chases behind him.

PERIDOT Pumpkin come on we've got to go.
Peridot and Pumpkin run in the opposite direction behind Lapis. They go off screen. Pumpkin comes back the other way again. Peridot trails behind, huffing and puffing.
PERIDOT Lapis help me catch Pumpkin.
Lapis ignores Peridot.
Peridot continues to chase Pumpkin. Pumpkin finally runs up to Lapis and jumps into her lap.
LAPIS Look, I caught Pumpkin.
Peridot comes over and scoops Pumpkin out of Lapis's lap.
PERIDOT Whatever. I did most of the work. Now, let's get going. I'd like get to Homeworld.
LAPIS Fine. Let's go.
Lapis spreads her wings. She grabs Peridot and Pumpkin and flies away.
EXT. LITTLE HOMEWORLD - DAY
Lapis flies into the center of Little Homeworld. She place Peridot and Pumpkin down. They start to walk towards the warp pad when they see BISMUTH, a gem who's tall and built with rainbow dreadlocks. They walk over to Bismuth.
PERIDOT Bismuth!
BISMUTH Hey, how are you two doing? I haven't seen you in a while.
PERIDOT We're good. We've just been hanging out in the barn a lot lately. But it's nice to get out and actually see some people sometimes.

BISMUTH You two do know that you can come visit me anytime.
LAPIS Yeah, why don't we hang out here with Bismuth?
PERIDOT But, we're going to Homeworld.
LAPIS Yeah, but we haven't seen Bismuth in so long.
PERIDOT But Laaapiis
LAPIS Fine.
PERIDOT Alright!
BISMUTH If you're not gonna stay and hang out, do you need someone to watch Pumpkin while you're gone?
PERIDOT No, we're taking Pumpkin with us to Homeworld.
BISMUTH Why?
PERIDOT Because he's never been there before.
Bismuth furrows her brows at Peridot.
LAPIS Peridot is bored and needed an excuse to get me to go to Homeworld with her. Because for some reason she desperately wants to go.
BISMUTH Ah, that makes more sense. Now, why don't you two just go to Homeworld and leave Pumpkin here with me.

PERIDOT No, we're taking Pumpkin with us. I think it'll be a fun for her.
BISMUTH Now, I understand that it might be fun for Pumpkin to go see Homeworld, but I don't know how well the gems there will react. There are still plenty of gems on Homeworld who haven't adjusted to all of the changes. And there are gems who aren't happy with the changes at all. They might not be ready to see something like Pumpkin.
PERIDOT Nonsense, it'll be fine. Beside look how excited Pumpkin is.
Peridot holds Pumpkin up to Bismuth's face. Pumpkin barks and licks Bismuth. Bismuth laughs.
BISMUTH Okay, but be careful. I wouldn't want to see anything happen to this little cutie.
Bismuth rubs Pumpkin's head. Pumpkin jumps out of Peridot's arms and runs off. Peridot chases after her.
LAPIS It was nice to see you Bismuth.
BISMUTH Y'all should come around more often instead of just hangin' out in that old barn. Maybe then Peridot wouldn't be so bored.
LAPIS Yeah, maybe I'll just send her off to stay with you every once in a while.
BISMUTH Hold up there, I didn't say that I wanted to keep her. I said that y'all should visit.
Peridot returns with Pumpkin in her arms once again.

PERIDOT Are you ready to go to Homeworld, Lapis?
LAPIS I guess.
BISMUTH Hey, remember to be careful out there. Not everyone on Homeworld is as nice as the people here on Earth. Oh, and don't let Pumpkin out of your sight. You don't wanna lose her on Homeworld. You might never find her again if you do.
PERIDOT Yeah, yeah we've got this covered.
Peridot and Lapis walk over the the warp pad and step onto it.
PERIDOT (continued) This is gonna be so much fun.
Peridot and Lapis wave to Bismuth who waves back. They warp away leaving Bismuth alone in Little Homeworld.
BISMUTH (to self) This is gonna be a disaster.
EXT. HOMEWORLD - DAY
Lapis, Peridot, and Pumpkin warp into Homeworld. Homeworld is full of gems running around. It's more futuristic than Earth. There's a lot of high tech and there are geometric structures made of rock. There are also more structures that resemble Earth's market places.
PERIDOT Wow, so much has changed since we were here last.
LAPIS It looks so much more like Earth. I mean it's not Earth but it looks like they've adopted some of the same customs that Earth has.

PERIDOT Yeah, let's go check it out.
Peridot runs off the warp pad ahead of Lapis.
LAPIS Peridot don't run off.
Lapis spreads her wings and flies to catch up to Peridot.
Lapis catches up to Peridot and they find themselves in the middle of an open-air market.
LAPIS Wow, this is actually really cool.
PERIDOT I know! Aren't you glad we came?
LAPIS I don't know yet. Let's look around before I make any judgements on what the 'new' Homeworld is like.
PERIDOT Okay, then let's go!
Peridot grabs Lapis's hand and pulls her up to the first stand that she sees. The stand appears to be selling limb enhancers.
PERIDOT Look! They're selling limb enhancers. I could replace my old ones.
Peridot picks up one of the limb enhancers. Pumpkin begins to growl at it. Lapis takes the limb enhancer from Peridot.
LAPIS You don't need those. Besides I don't think Pumpkin likes them very much.
PERIDOT I guess you're right.
Lapis puts the limb enhancer back.
LAPIS Let's go check out some more of the stores here.

PERIDOT Alright! Let's go Pumpkin.
Pumpkin barks in approval. They leave the booth and continue to walk down the aisle of shops. The other gems are staring at them, but Peridot doesn't seem to notice.
LAPIS Hey, Peridot, maybe we should get going.
PERIDOT Why?
LAPIS The Homeworld gems are staring at us. I don't think they're very found of Pumpkin.
PERIDOT What? No way! They're just fascinated. They've never seen something like him before. They're just excited.
LAPIS I don't know about that Peridot. They've had a lot of change to adjust to already. I don't think they're ready for anything else.
PERIDOT No way. They'll love him. Just watch.
Peridot puts Pumpkin down.
LAPIS Peridot no!
Pumpkin runs off.
LAPIS What have you done?
PERIDOT I just wanted to give the Homeworld gems a chance to interact with Pumpkin.
LAPIS Great, cause now she's running off.

PERIDOT Well, then I guess we need to go get her.
Lapis spreads her wings and grabs Peridot. She flies them in the direction that Pumpkin ran. They fly forward and see Pumpkin run around a corner.
PERIDOT There!
Lapis speeds to the corner. Once they round the corner Pumpkin is nowhere to be found. Lapis stops and puts Peridot down.
LAPIS Where'd she go?
PERIDOT I don't know.
LAPIS What are we gonna do? How are we gonna find her?
PERIDOT We could ask around. I'm sure someone's seen her. She'll probably stick out like a sore thumb around here.
LAPIS Yeah, I guess you're right. Let's split up so we can cover more ground.
PERIDOT Good idea! I'll go this way.
LAPIS Okay, I'll go this way. Meet back at the warp pad in 10 minutes.
PERIDOT Got it.
Lapis flies off in one direction and Peridot walks off in the other direction.
EXT. HOMEWORLD MARKET - DAY
Peridot walks up to one of the stands in the market. The
Created using Celtx 11. stand is being run by TOPAZ, a big yellow gem. Topaz is turned away from Peridot so she doesn't see Peridot approach the stand.
PERIDOT Excuse me.
Topaz doesn't acknowledge Peridot.
PERIDOT Excuse me!
Topaz slowly turns to face Peridot.
TOPAZ Can I help you?
PERIDOT Yeah, have you seen a living pumpkin running around?
TOPAZ A what?
PERIDOT (deliberately) A living pumpkin. Have you seen it?
TOPAZ What's a pumpkin?
PERIDOT It's an Earth vegetable.
Topaz stares blankly at Peridot.
PERIDOT It's orange and round and about this big.
Peridot puts her hands up to show Topaz roughly how big pumpkin is.
TOPAZ And it's alive?
PERIDOT Yes.
TOPAZ And it's orange and round?

PERIDOT Yes. Have you seen her?
TOPAZ No.
PERIDOT Arrghh
Peridot storms off.
EXT. HOMEWORLD MARKET - DAY
Lapis wanders down a different aisle of the market. She walks up to a RUBY, a small red gem.
LAPIS Excuse me
Ruby doesn't respond. She just walks around Lapis and continues on her way.
LAPIS Well, that was rude.
Lapis looks around. She sees an AMETHYST, a big purple gem meant to be a soldier, shopping at one of the stands. Lapis approaches the Amethyst.
LAPIS Excuse me, could you help me?
AMETHYST I guess. Do you need protection?
LAPIS No, I need information.
AMETHYST You know you're talking to an Amethyst, right?
LAPIS Yes, I know. I'm looking for my pet. I lost her, and I was hoping you might've seen her.
AMETHYST (hesitantly) Okay, what does it look like?

LAPIS Umm, it's a small, round, orange, and it's got four legs.
AMETHYST Four legs?
LAPIS Yes, four legs.
AMETHYST So, it's a fusion.
LAPIS No, it's from Earth. It's organic.
AMETHYST Oh, I haven't seen anything like that.
LAPIS Okay, thanks anyway.
AMETHYST No problem.
EXT. HOMEWORLD WARP PAD - DAY
Peridot is sitting by the warp pad. Lapis comes up and sits down next to her.
LAPIS Any luck?
PERIDOT None. Nobody here even understands what Pumpkin is.
LAPIS I know. Maybe we need a picture.
PERIDOT We shouldn't need a picture. How hard is it for these clods to understand that we're looking for a small, round, orange, organic being. Pumpkin should stick out like a sore thumb around here.
LAPIS We shouldn't have brought Pumpkin with in the first place.

PERIDOT Well, if you would've just hung out with me in the first place we-
An Emerald, a large blue gem, and her PEARL, a petite yet tall white and green gem, walk up to Lapis and Peridot. She interrupts their conversation.
EMERALD I'm sorry to interrupt but I couldn't help but hear that you're looking for an organic being that you lost.
PERIDOT Yeah we are! Have you seen her?
EMERALD I have.
LAPIS That's great! Where did you see her?
EMERALD I saw her in the Old Kindergarten.
PERIDOT That's great! Let's go get Pumpkin.
Peridot gets up to leave, but turns back to Sapphire.
PERIDOT Where exactly is the Old Kindergarten?
EMERALD It's just past the north end of the market. But you must be careful in the Old Kindergarten. It's a dangerous place. The gems that refuse to comply with all of the changes that the Diamonds have made live there now. They don't take kindly to outsiders.
PERIDOT We'll be fine. We are a part of the crystal gems you know.
EMERALD In that case you'll need to be extra careful. They really aren't a fan of yours in the Old Kindergarten. If you insist on going, stay on your guard

and do your best to blend in. Although I doubt you two will be able to.
LAPIS Thank you. We'll be careful, but we have to go. We need to find Pumpkin. She's all alone and she's probably terrified.
EMERALD Good luck.
Peridot and Lapis get up and head back towards the market. Emerald turns to her Pearl.
EMERALD They're going to get eaten alive in there.
EXT. OLD KINDERGARTEN - DAY
Lapis and Peridot enter the Old Kindergarten. The Old Kindergarten is a massive ravine with gem shaped holes covering the walls of rock. There are makeshift tents and homes throughout the Old Kindergarten. The gems that live there stare at Lapis and Peridot as they walk by.
PERIDOT This place is really creepy.
LAPIS Yeah, let's just find Pumpkin and get out of here.
PERIDOT Do you think we should ask these gems if they've seen Pumpkin?
LAPIS No, you heard what Emerald said. They don't like outsiders. We'll just have to find Pumpkin on our own.
PERIDOT Okay, let's split up then, so we can cover more ground.
LAPIS No, we're staying together this time. I really don't trust this place. We'll be better off if we stick together.

PERIDOT Okay, let's get moving then.
Peridot and Lapis begin to walk faster. Lapis stays in the middle of the road as she looks for Pumpkin. Peridot is running back and forth looking behind trash cans and in between tents. Peridot crosses in front of Lapis. Lapis stops her by grabbing her arm.
LAPIS You need to stop running around like a maniac. You're drawing too much attention to us. The other gems are staring at us.
PERIDOT Well, excuse me for actually trying to find Pumpkin.
LAPIS I am trying to find Pumpkin, but I'm being smart about it and not drawing more attention to ourselves than necessary. We really don't need to cause any trouble here.
Peridot pulls her arm out of Lapis's grasp.
PERIDOT Fine, let's keep looking.
Peridot and Lapis continue down the street. They walk until they come up to the wall of the ravine. The road they're on connects perpendicularly to another road. They stop in the middle of the intersection.
LAPIS Which way should we go?
PERIDOT We could split up and-
LAPIS We are not splitting up.
PERIDOT Fine.
Peridot crosses her arms and looks down the road to the left. Then she looks down the road to the right. Peridot spots Pumpkin on the right half of the road. Peridot smacks Lapis

LAPIS Oh, what was that for?
Peridot points to Pumpkin.
PERIDOT I found Pumpkin!
LAPIS Peridot you're the best!
Lapis hugs Peridot.
PERIDOT Duh.
LAPIS Come on, let's go get her.
Lapis grabs Peridot's hand and pulls her towards Pumpkin. As they get closer to Pumpkin an ONYX, a large black gem, steps in between them and Pumpkin. Onyx picks up Pumpkin. Peridot walks up to Onyx and taps on her shoulder.
PERIDOT Excuse me.
Onyx turns around. She doesn't see Peridot at first. After a moment she looks down and sees Peridot.
ONYX What?
PERIDOT That's our pet, Pumpkin. Can we please have her back?
ONYX What's with the star on your chest?
LAPIS (overlapping) Peridot no.
PERIDOT (overlapping) We're a part of the crystal gems.
Lapis puts her head in her hands.

ONYX Crystal gems huh? You mean the gems that came here and wrecked everything? You ruined everything.
PERIDOT We didn't wreck anything. We fixed everything. You should be grateful to us.
ONYX Fixed everything? You ruined everything. Thanks to you I have no purpose and no job.
PERIDOT Then get a new job. You could work in the big market here, or you could come with us to Earth and get a job there. The adjustment to Earth really isn't hard.
ONYX Go to Earth. Hmm, or I could just do some of the things you do here. What are some of the things that happen on Earth.
PERIDOT On Earth people play, make stuff, eat-
ONYX Eat, yeah. Why don't I start eating? I think I'll start with this thing here.
Onyx raises Pumpkin up above her head and opens her mouth. She begins to lower Pumpkin down and Pumpkin begins to growl and whine. Lapis spots a pot of water, and she uses her powers to control the water and slap Onyx causing her to lower Pumpkin.
LAPIS No!
ONYX What do you think you're doing?
LAPIS I'm saving Pumpkin, and if that means I have to fight you to do it then that's what I'll do.

ONYX Oh, you're a feisty little gem. I haven't had a good fight in a long time.
Onyx takes Pumpkin and puts her under a crate. She sits a heavy rock on top of the crate so Pumpkin can't escape. Onyx walks back in front of Lapis and gets into a fight stance.
ONYX Let's go.
Peridot runs over next to Lapis.
PERIDOT If you want to fight her, you'll have to fight me too.
ONYX Oh, this is gonna be good.
Lapis starts by hitting Onyx with the water again. Onyx is barely phased and comes running at Lapis. She bowls into Lapis sending her flying into one of the tents.
Peridot attacks Onyx from behind by using her powers to hit her with the metal objects laying around in the road of the Old Kindergarten. Onyx begins to block the objects. She grabs Peridot and throws her into Lapis who was just getting out of the tent that she was thrown into. Onyx laughs.
ONYX Is that all you puny gems got?
Lapis spreads her wings and flies at Onyx. She strikes Onyx and immediately flies out of her reach.
Peridot hops onto a garbage can lid and flies at Onyx. She uses her powers to hit her with the metal objects again. Peridot accidentally flies within Onyx's reach.
Onyx grabs the trash can lid out from under Peridot. She grabs Peridot and throws her into Lapis, knocking her out of the air.
ONYX Looks like you crystal gems aren't as powerful as you thought. I guess I'm going to be eating a nice little Pumpkin today.

Lapis gets up, and she helps Peridot up by grabbing her hand. Onyx walks towards the crate that's holding Pumpkin.
LAPIS Stop!
Onyx ignores her and keeps going.
LAPIS What are we gonna do?
Peridot looks down at their intertwined hands.
PERIDOT We've gotta fuse. We're not going to beat her any other way.
LAPIS Peridot, you know how I feel about fusion.
PERIDOT I know, but we need to save Pumpkin from this stupid clod.
Lapis doesn't respond. She just stares at Onyx. Onyx picks the heavy rock up off of the crate.
LAPIS Okay, let's do it.
PERIDOT You sure?
LAPIS Yeah, I'm sure.
PERIDOT Okay, it's fusion time.
LAPIS Don't say that.
PERIDOT Okay.
Peridot steps back from Lapis and begins to dance. Lapis does the same thing. They dance towards each other. Once they get close enough the grab each other's hands, and Peridot dips Lapis. Their gems are glowing and they fuse together to make JADE, a large green gem with four arms that towers over Onyx.

Jade walks over to Onyx and taps on her shoulder. Onyx turns around. Jade punches her in the face sending her flying backwards. Onyx gets up and dusts herself off.
ONYX A fusion. Is that really the only way that you crystal gems can beat anyone? You're pathetic.
Jade runs over to Onyx and throws her even further away from where Pumpkin is.
JADE It just so happens that we work better together.
Jade uses her powers and pelts Onyx with all of the metal debris laying around in the Old Kindergarten. Onyx attempts to shield herself, but she loses her footing and falls back again.
Jade stops pelting Onyx with the debris. She approaches Onyx. Onyx emerges from the pile of debris.
JADE Are you ready to give up yet? Or do we have to poof you?
ONYX I'll never surrender to the likes of you.
Onyx runs at Jade, but Jade dodges her attack. Onyx gets angrier and charges at Jade again. This time Jade grabs Onyx and throws her into the wall of the Old Kindergarten. Onyx gets back up.
ONYX Is that all you got?
Jade cracks her fingers. She uses her powers again to bombard Onyx with the metal debris. Jade then uses her powers to control water to pick up Onyx.
ONYX Put me down.
JADE Okay.
Jade holds Onyx up higher with the water, and then flings her
Created using Celtx 22. to the ground. Onyx gets up and runs towards Jade.
Jade uses her powers and pierces Onyx's body before she can attack again. Onyx's physical form poofs and her gem falls to the ground.
Jade unfuses, becoming Peridot and Lapis again. They run over to Pumpkin in the crate. Peridot kneels down picks the crate up freeing Pumpkin. Lapis kneels down and Pumpkin jumps into her arms.
LAPIS Pumpkin! I'm so glad you're okay. We were so worried about you.
Peridot pulls Pumpkin and Lapis in for a hug. Pumpkin barks happily.
PERIDOT Don't ever run away again.
Peridot ends the hug.
LAPIS Don't ever let her roam free in a strange place again.
PERIDOT Yeah, yeah. You were right, and I was wrong.
LAPIS I was right. Now we should probably get out of here before Onyx reforms her physical body.
PERIDOT Yeah, I really don't want to deal with that clod ever again.
They stand up and begin to walk out of the Old Kindergarten.
PERIDOT I think I've had enough of Homeworld for a long time.
LAPIS Me too. Let's go home.
