An extraordinary programme ! Today, it is with great joy that I announce this partnership with Mirabaud, giving the go-ahead to operations that will enable me to be at the starting line with Michèle in Barcelona on 31 December 2010, under the best condi- tions possible. One year later we will be in Le Havre, and finally, at the Sables d’Olonne in 2012 for the Vendée Globe. On the programme: one transatlantic, two round-the- world races, 200 days at sea and 90,000 nautical miles. Still, one might ask : why ? My answer is simple : after se- ven round-the-world races and over 360,000 nautical miles in my sailor’s log, my ambitions are intact and my thirst is as intense as ever ! Today, I embark on this three- year programme with enormous energy and enthusiasm. I am thrilled to be returning to sea on one of the Fabu- lous IMOCA Open 60 yachts and to complete a venture that I was forced to abandon in the southern seas during the last Vendée Globe.

PRESS RELEASE TRESCAL EMBARKS ON THE VENDEE GLOBE 2016 SAILING RACE Paris, November 6th, 2016. Trescal, international specialist in calibration services, is doubly involved in the Vendée Globe 2016 Race. But also, by providing metrological expertise to the technical team of the Imoca Newrest-Matmut. Trescal, provided to Fabrice Amedeo’s technical team a tension meter calibrated in their laboratory to check the forces exerted on the riggings. « This tension meter will enable us to better calculate the tension exerted on the maneuvers in static and dynamic conditions. In particular on the halyards (ropes to hoist the sails) and on the stays (ropes to haul or trim the sails) in order to optimize the choice in strength and weight of the riggings. It will also be used to optimize devices as pulleys, reinforcements on the sails, and to better understand the force induced in the structure of the boat where these devices are fixed ... all this in order to optimize performance!” enthusiastically stated Yvon Berrehar, technical director of the Imoca 60. Trescal’s support of the team will continue after the race because, in addition to these measures carried out with the tension meter, the team located in the Trescal calibration laboratory in Rennes will carry out verification and testing of electrical equipment (current, voltage), and of external and submerged temperature sensors. The collaboration with Fabrice Amedeo will continue after this Vendée Globe race as the group will be accompanying him and his team during his next challenges : La Transat Jacques Vabre in 2017 and La Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe in 2018.
