Rose Royce, Eruption con Precious Wilson, y George McCrae se unirán a Sister Sledge para celebrar los 40 años de la música Disco Gibraltar, 23 de mayo de 2018 Tres clásicos de la música Disco se unirán a Sister Sledge para celebrar los 40 años de la música Disco en el Escenario Clásico [del Festival de música Gibraltar Calling 2018] situado en el Estadio Victoria de Gibraltar el viernes 21 de septiembre de 2018. Estos artistas estarán acompañados de actuaciones estelares y héroes musicales que actuarán también en el marco del festival de música MTV Presents: Gibraltar Calling, como parte de la serie Presents de la MTV. El grupo de Soul y Rhythm and Blues estadounidense Rose Royce, liderado por Gwen Dickey, traerá la fiebre disco al Peñón este septiembre con su espectáculo de clásicos inolvidables que incluyen “Car Wash”, “Wishing On A Star”, “Love Don’t Live Here Any More”, “Do Your Dance”, “Is It Love You’re After”, “I’m In Love” (And I Love The Feeling) y “I Wanna Get Next To You”. La cartelera también incluirá al popular grupo de música Disco, R&B y Soul afro‐caribeño Eruption, con Precious Wilson. Eruption fueron muy populares en la época Disco por sus versiones de “I Can't Stand the Rain”, de Ann Peebles y “One Way Ticket”, de Neil Sedaka. El último artista, no por ello el menos importante, será el cantante americano de Soul y Disco, George McCrae, autor de los éxitos de los setenta “Rock Your Baby” y “I Get Lifted”. “Rock Your Baby” se convirtió en uno de los primeros grandes éxitos de la época, del que vendió más de 15 millones de copias y con el que alcanzó el número 1 de la lista de éxitos en más de 40 países. Este éxito impulsó al LP del mismo nombre a los primeros puestos de las listas de ventas en más de 10 países. Su éxito fue tal que fue votado como la principal canción del año 1974 por la revista Rolling Stone y McCrae fue nominado al premio Grammy al Mejor Vocalista de R&B al año siguiente. Estas estrellas internacionales acompañarán al legendario grupo Sister Sledge el viernes 21 de septiembre para hacer vibrar la noche con los mayores éxitos de la música Disco. American soul and R&B group Rose Royce will bring disco fever to “the rock” this September with their classic greatest hits show, fronted by Gwen Dickey performing “Car Wash”, “Wishing On A Star”, “Love Don’t Live Here Any More”, “Do Your Dance”, “Is It Love You’re After”, “I’m In Love” (And I Love The Feeling) and “I Wanna Get Next To You”. Also joining the line up will be Afro-Caribbean band Eruption featuring Precious Wilson. The popular disco, R&B and soul band were well- known throughout the disco era for their covers of Ann Peebles' "I Can't Stand the Rain" and Neil Sedaka's "One Way Ticket”. Last but certainly not least will be American soul and disco singer George McCrae, most famous for his 70’s hit s "Rock Your Baby" and “I Get Lifted”. "Rock Your Baby", became one of the first hits of the disco era, selling over 15 million copies and peaking #1 in more than 40 countries,including the eponymous album in the top of more than 10 countries. It was so successful that Rolling Stone magazine voted it the #1 song of the year in 1974.     Arena free concert line‐up announced Following the success of Seaside Soul in 2016 the soul theme returns to Rhyl Events Arena on Sunday 18th August for the annual Free Arena Concert . This year’s event will feature live entertainment from Jimmy James & The Vagabonds, The Edwin Starr Band ‘The Team’ featuring Angelo Starr , Precious Wilson, Midnight Soul Supremes and guest DJ’s Jimmy James started his musical career, composing and singing, at the early age of 16. In 1964 he was asked to join as the lead singer with one of Jamaica’s leading bands ‘The Vagabonds’ and together they left Jamaica for what was to be a six month tour of the UK. In 1966 The Vagabonds recorded their now legendary album, ‘The New Religion’ which really established the outfit as the most sought after working band in the UK. Jimmy’s recording of Neil Diamond’s ‘Red Red wine’ in 1969, taken from the Vagabonds’ second album ‘Open up your soul’, gave them their first commercial hit record. Angelo Starr is an American singer, musician and record producer. He is also the younger brother of the late soul singer Edwin Starr. The Team was Edwin Starr’s touring band and upon the death of his brother in 2003, he felt that he had reached an impasse and didn’t know if he still wanted to be involved with music Angelo eventually stepped in to front his brother’s touring band, The Team.

Hodges plays the memorable organ stabs that punctuate "Take Me to the River" and the sweeping swells that bring together "Love and Happiness." He plays soul music like he's in church, and he plays church music from his soul. That's him on Little Milton hits (e.g., "Walking the Backstreets and Crying") and on all the classic Ann Peebles and Syl Johnson songs. Twenty years ago, he won a TV casting show on Veronica (a famous Dutch channel) and he scored four hits in the singles charts in the Netherlands ( Don't Wanna Give Up (peak position: #31 in 1988), Heart Of Gold (#32 in 1991), Ma Belle Amie (#36 in 2005) and African Baby (#62 in 2006). His discs have been recorded, produced and mixed by the " crême de la crême " of the studio musicians, top producers and sound engineers in the Netherlands. He has also made a lot of live performances and has worked as a background singer for famous Dutch stars ( André Hazes , Bonnie St.Claire ...). He has worked in a record company ( EMI ) to promote famous acts and runs the Liz Mitchell fanclub ( Liz is Boney M 's lead singer and a good friend of him). Two years ago, he performed at José 's fan club day in Oirschot. Last week I've decided to make an interview with him because I think he's a interesting person.
