Create a balanced, fashion up-do suitable for an individual client and demonstrate professional, creative skills. Introduction Tools required for this treatment Wedding Fashion Gown Put up/ back brushing brush The Look: Pin tail comb This look is a modern fashion look currently popular with Slim traditional cutting comb brides or bridesmaids who are looking for a romantic 4/5 long, slim sectioning clips without catches to prevent ’boho’ feel for an outdoor/ country garden / natural marking the hair theme. The look includes a lace braid. An assortment of Kirby grips to suit Adapt this style for prom looks by using different client’s hair colour accessories. Approx. 20 straight long, fine grips to fix and separate Accessories: Hair spray- firm hold/ Shine Spray Works well with flowers, ivy or comb pins accessories. Smoothing crème Oil / or serum Alternatively, use no accessories for casual day wear. Heat protector Tongs or styling irons/ straighteners If required, wadding or added hair depending on hair thickness Accessories (flowers, veil) Step 1 Part the hair diagonally as a small zig-zag approx. 9cm from the front hair line. Take into account a preferred parting (ideally side to soften the look) and the client’s head shape. Use mirror to pull down tendrils around the face, avoiding symmetry. Then create a circular section from the top of the head point to the ears. Clip out of the way. Tip: 1. Wear a flat, grip ring on a finger to help you open the grips. Step 2 Begin at the nape and work upwards in approx. 4cm sections, backcombing the roots (for support) up to the occipital bone. Moving from the occipital bone upwards to your first section, continue to back-brush further down the hair to create a firm base to create the height on the crown area. Clip the back brushed area out of the way and section off the nape area. Work with small sections, work your way up the head curling the hair at varying degrees with straighteners, using heat protector as you progress. Hairdressing Fashion Updo Page 2 Step 3 Pin curl (movement and flat) these sections securing with grips around the nape area, being aware of balance. Then the top section is then smoothed back with a little serum (creating as much height as required) and gripped above the curled section. The ends are then curled and gripped in to match. Step 4 Now move to the sides. Dutch lace braid from the parting, (one or both sides) following the circular section on top, changing to a normal Dutch braid at the ears. Use an elastic to secure and fingers to splay braid out and fix with spray. Repeat on the other side Pin your braids over the top of the curled section. Lightly curl the tendrils away from the face and smooth with serum. Manipulate and fix in place using ‘hidden’ grips. Step 5 Add texture and definition using ‘long fine grips’ technique and allow to cool and fix. Finish with shine spray/ serum and add accessories as required. Some tendrils can be pulled out to soften features. The look could be altered by changing the style of the braid to a fish tail or other to suit such as one or two braids. Also make the curls at the back as defined or as loose as you require.
