The 16-date nationwide tour will start on November 25th, 2021in Brighton and end on December 20th, 2021 in Bury St Edmunds. Special guests on the tour are the popular Thin Lizzy tribute band Limehouse Lizzy. Due to the closure of the Salisbury City Hall the concert on Friday 26th November 2021 has been moved to the Southampton 1865 on Friday 26th November 2021. SWEET continue to tour and perform to sell out audiences around the globe with over 55 million records sold worldwide and 34 number 1 hits worldwide. "We wanted to be The Sweet" – Nikki Sixx, Mötley Crüe This is the band I wish I had been in." – Joe Elliot, Def Leppard By the early 70’s The Sweet were arguably the hottest ticket in town with a string of top ten records in the UK and Europe including Blockbuster, Hellraiser, Ballroom Blitz, Teenage Rampage and The Sixteens. In 1975 the USA had discovered the band with Fox on the Run hitting the number 3 spot in the Billboard 100. Another self-penned hit Action followed in 1976 firmly establishing Sweet in the US charts. Sweet (Left to Right) – Lee Small (bass, vocals), Bruce Bisland (drums, vocals), Paul Manzi (lead vocals), Andy Scott (lead guitar, vocals), Steve Mann (guitar, keyboards) On the face of it they were primarily a singles band, however, with the landmark albums including Desolation Boulevard (1975) and Give Us a Wink (1976), the band showed a much harder rocking band. The album Level Headed, released in 1978, brought with it another award winning million-selling worldwide hit with Love is Like Oxygen written by Andy Scott. In 1979, lead singer Brian Connolly left the original line up leaving Andy Scott, Steve Priest and Mick Tucker to continue as a three-piece. Sadly, both Brian Connolly and Mick Tucker passed away in 1997 and 2002 respectively, and with Steve Priest relocating to the USA, Andy Scott was left to fly the flag. The 2020 line-up features founding member, Andy Scott (lead guitar, vocals), Steve Mann (guitar, keyboards), Bruce Bisland (drums, vocals) Lee Small (bass, vocals) and Paul Manzi (lead vocals). The Sweet still tour the world extensively with one of the most dynamic and slick live shows on the circuit. 1968 to 2020, 52 years and counting of hellraising, star chasing, trail blazing. The Sweet continue to walk loud and proud in the rock and roll universe.     Glam Rock By Barney Hoskyns There's a new sensation A fabulous creation, A danceable solution To teenage revolution Roxy Music, 1973 1: All the Young Dudes: Dawn of the Teenage Rampage Glamour – a word first used in the 18th Century as a Scottish term connoting "magic" or "enchantment" – has always been a part of pop music. With his mascara and gold suits, Elvis Presley was pure glam. So was Little Richard, with his pencil moustache and towering pompadour hairstyle. The Rolling Stones of the mid-to- late Sixties, swathed in scarves and furs, were unquestionably glam; the group even dressed in drag to push their 1966 single "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?" But it wasn't until 1971 that "glam" as a term became the buzzword for a new teenage subculture that was reacting to the messianic, we-can-change-the-world rhetoric of late Sixties rock. When T. Rex's Marc Bolan sprinkled glitter under his eyes for a TV taping of the group’s "Hot Love," it signaled a revolt into provocative style, an implicit rejection of the music to which stoned older siblings had swayed during the previous decade. "My brother’s back at home with his Beatles and his Stones," Mott the Hoople's Ian Hunter drawled on the anthemic David Bowie song "All the Young Dudes," "we never got it off on that revolution stuff..." As such, glam was a manifestation of pop's cyclical nature, its hedonism and surface show-business fizz offering a pointed contrast to the sometimes po-faced earnestness of the Woodstock era.

Den Interessierten erwartet eine Pop-Show im Stil der großen Zeit des Glam-Rocks. Die Band präsentiert im entsprechenden Outfit ausnahmslos alle großen Hits von THE SWEET . Von der ersten Nr.1 in Deutschland COCO bis LOVE IS LIKE OXYGEN sind alle Hit- Klassiker vertreten. INFO: Als sich THE SWEET 1978 mit ihrer letzten in Originalbesetzung aufgenommenen LP "Level Headed " von den großen Bühnen verabschiedeten, hatten sie eine mehr als turbulente Karriere hinter sich gebracht . SWEET waren eine der Bands, die erfolgreich auf der Glam– Rock Welle ritten, die in den frühen siebziger Jahren äußerst populär bei den Kids war. Ihre Single-Produktionen boten Zündstoff für die Charts und sie erzielten über Jahre hinweg Top 10 Platzierungen. In den Jahren 1971- 1975 feierten SWEET ihre größten Erfolge, spielten bis zu 300 Konzerte pro Jahr und zierten fast wöchentlich die Titelseite der BRAVO und anderen Musikzeitschriften. In der ZDF DISCO waren sie Dauergäste. Sie begeisterten die Leute mit ihrem einzigartigen Auftreten, um das viele Bands sie zu Recht beneideten. Andererseits wurden sie auch von vielen wegen ihres Outfits und der Musik belächelt. SWEET hatten aber speziell in Deutschland immer treue Fans, die an die Band glaubten und sich nichts Negatives einreden ließen. Denn der Sound von SWEET wurde von Kritikern gerne als zu simpel herabgewürdigt, und die vier Süßen kämpften spätestens seit dem Versuch, als echte Rockmusiker anerkannt zu werden mit der Tatsache, dass ein musikalischer Imagewandel schwerlich zu vollziehen ist.

It’s in every song they ever wrote.” Undoutably, Suzi Quatro broke down the barriers for many female rock stars with her tough leather-clad look and catchy pop/rock tunes during the glam rock years of the early 70s. A big ABBA fan herself, Suzi enthusiastically accepted the offer to join our Famous ABBA Fans Gallery. With her fantastic cover of Does Your Mother Know that she recently recorded, she certainly deserves her place in the ABBA annals. I met Suzi at the Stag Studios in Essex (“It's a nice little studio. On my new box set there is the track Desperado with Jeff Beck, and I recorded the piano and the vocals here”), where she rehearsed for her upcoming BBC radio show in celebration of her 50 years in the music business. At what time did ABBA enter your life and did you become a fan? I worked with ABBA way back when Ring Ring was a single. We did a TV show together in Belgium and lots of TV after that. We ran into each other quite a bit. Their style wasn't exactly finalised yet. I didn't actually become a fan until Waterloo. I thought they were fab and turned the Eurovision Song Contest on its head. What are your memories of meeting the ABBA members? Nice people - very normal. In your opinion what is the greatest merit of ABBA's music? The simplicity.

From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.
