Cassandra Missio Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher Director, Earth and Sky Yoga Studio Senior Member Level 3 (Yoga Australia) E-RYT 500hrs ()

Cassandra first came to yoga in her early twenties whilst travelling. She knew after her first class that she had stumbled upon a very powerful and potent discipline that left her feeling grounded and clear. She has been teaching yoga for over 15 years and began her training in 2002 by undertaking a traditional teacher mentoring apprenticeship at The Art of Yoga in Summer Hill. This supported the development of her daily yoga and meditation practice, and gave her an opportunity to assist in class and on retreat. Through her mentorship she developed the fundamental principles of her teaching style.

She has continued to develop her practice and teaching skills studying on numerous occasions with the founder of Anusara yoga, John Friend and many of his senior teachers. She has studied regularly with meditation and philosophy teacher Carlos Pomeda and Yoga Therapist Doug Kellar.

After many years of refining her teaching, Cassandra became a certified Anusara teacher in 2009. She teaches a wide range of classes from beginners to advanced as well as more specialised restorative and prenatal classes. She has many dedicated students who have been attending her classes for over 10 years. She has also established a busy private practice and teaches many one-on-one yoga therapy sessions per week.

She is inspired to offer teacher training at Earth and Sky Yoga Studio as her part in helping maintain high standards and integrity in the teaching of yoga.

In the Anusara tradition, Cassandra’s teaching style weaves precise bio- mechanical alignment and heart centred philosophy with the intent to offer an experience of freedom and lightness to the body and the heart! Christine du Fresne Yoga Philosophy Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher

Christine’s passion for the study of Indian philosophic traditions had its beginnings in Anusara yoga in 2001. Although she had studied Western philosophy and found it intellectually stimulating, it was only when she discovered the refined and potent gifts of the , and realised that the hatha yoga she had been practicing for years had its roots in classical Tantric philosophy, that she was inspired to dive into both the Tantric texts and the wider textual sources of yoga. When Christine met former monk and now global teacher Carlos Pomeda in 2005 she knew she had met her teacher. She has studied with Carlos at every opportunity since then. His wise, generous and compassionate teaching has illuminated her own teaching and given her the tools and direction to impart the wisdom of these texts to others.

TESTIMONIALS

‘I love Cassandra and love this studio. I practiced a bit with Cassandra many years back and was lucky enough to do my Anusara immersion with her which was amazing! If you live in the inner west of Sydney you should definitely visit this studio. Thanks so much Cassandra!’ – Kelly Ryan, Director of Yoga Vidya, Wollongong

‘Cassandra is a remarkable teacher. She is fresh and fun at every class. How does she do that? She takes her yoga practice, however, very seriously. Her understanding of the postures, alignments and deeper purpose of yoga within our lives, is very uplifting. I feel grateful to attend her classes and think Sydney is lucky to have her.’ – Jacqueline
