12.-21.02.2014 8th Tallinn Winter Festival Classical music concerts performed by top Estonian musicians and foreign visitors take place under the motto "Lift up your eyes and open your heart ". http://www.plmf.ee/tallinn-winter- The festival headliner is the world-famous Julian Rachlin and the string orchestra Camerata. As in previous years, donations will be collected for the festival_eng PLMF "Pillifondi", which supports talented Estonian interpreters looking to buy high-quality musical instruments.

14.-16.02.2014 Tallinn 23. International tourism The international tourism fair Tourest is the oldest and largest tourism fair in the Baltics and the Estonian Association of Tour Operators has organized it http://tourest.eu/eng/ fair Tourest since 1991. It is the major event on the tourism sector's calendar, and allows one to gain an overview of what the field has to offer. The fair's activity takes place in parallel in the main hall, the Holiday in Estonia hall and the children's hall, which is enriched in addition by the interactive main stage programme and speciality programme in the exhibition centre seminar rooms for those with a deeper interest. The visitor numbers are increasing each year and exceeded 36,000 in 2013.

15.02.2014 Fishing competition This traditional event is the biggest fishing competition in the Baltic States. The focus at the main competition is on catching tagged fish. www.kuldkala.ee "Kuldkala"

15.-24.02.2014 Pärnu Pärnu Ice Festival In winter, when the rivers and the sea are covered in ice and people are drawn to the snow and the ice rinks to ski and skate, Pärnu draws families to it www.icefest.eu from all over the world. The Pärnu Ice Festival brings some of the summer fun back to the wintry resort, presenting a wide range of activities over 9 days. You can go hiking and take part in sports competitions, there is music and dance, theatre and workshops, a food party and master classes, snow picnics and sleigh rides, and to top it all off Estonia's birthday! During the festival there is fun for all ages. The heart of the festival is in the historical heart of Pärnu, with outdoor cafes, a fair, workshops and a full programme of events. Top highlights are the opening show on 15 February and the Estonia Party on 23 February 2014.

16.02.2014 Otepää 43. Tartu Marathon The Tartu Marathon is the best known and most popular skiing event of its kind in Estonia. It is held every year on the third Sunday in February and www.tartumaraton.ee/43-tartu-maraton- forms part of the international Worldloppet and Estonian Estoloppet cross-country series. The full marathon course through Tartu and Valga counties programm-3331 covers a distance of 63 km, with the shorter route covering 31 km. The marathon is part of the Worldloppet series of long-distance skiing events.

18.-23.02.2014 Sea Harbour, Tallinn Titanic Festival Open through March 2014, the presents TITANIC: The Artefact Exhibition, which will take you back to 1912. The story of the Titanic http://titanic.lennusadam.eu/en will be explored in depth during the Titanic Festival. Foreign visitors connected to the Titanic investigations will present, and a thematic film programme will be screened. During the week, the era and story of the Titanic will be told.

22.-23.02.2014 Tallinn Simple Session Simple Session is a weekend full of experiences and unprecedented spectacle from close to 200 top BMX riders and skateboarders from all over the www.simplesession.net world. An infectious festival atmosphere, the most professional competitors the world has to offer, the hottest new names, a wild show and party mood have made Simple Session a cult event in the extreme sport world, and its unbridled energy has no rival!

MARCH 2014 27.-29.03.2014 Tallinn Tallinn Music Week Tallinn Music Week is one of the biggest indoor music festivals in the Baltic-Nordic region, and this year it will welcome some 15,000 music fans from www.tallinnmusicweek.ee Estonia and the region. Audiences, artists and professionals from the music biz will meet and mingle, new talents will blossom and Estonian artists will get a springboard into the colourful international world of music. Tallinn Music Week will present a line-up of around 200 artists from Estonia and across Europe. The festival’s music menu covers the whole wide spectrum of the best that the region has to offer: from folk and indie to jazz and punk, from classical music to metal and anything in between. The two-day city stage programme offers free daytime concerts for all music fans in unexpected places around Tallinn. APRIL 2014 18.-27.04.2014 All over Estonia 25th Tallinn International The 25th Tallinn International Festival Jazzkaar is taking place from 18-27 April in Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu, Viljandi, and other Estonian cities. www.jazzkaar.ee Festival Jazzkaar About 50 concerts will be held all across Tallinn in this, the anniversary year. There will also be a number of other music related events, with musicians from 20 countries participating. Strains of jazz will ring out in large concert venues across the city: in the grand Sea Pavilion erected in a seaside location in the city centre and once again, in the open air - on the streets and squares of the city.

19.04.2014 Võru-Võhandu river-Võõpsu 9. Võhandu Marathon On 19 April 2014, one of the most scenic and challenging rowing marathon in Europe kicks off. The participants will cover 100 km in one day, www.vohandumaraton.ee experiencing some extreme moments along the way. The river affords fantastic views of ancient forests, meadows and sandstone bluffs. For sportsmen and women, the event offers the joy of going head to head in competition, other participants enjoy the thrill of testing their own limits. The marathon awaits! Come and take part! The start is by Lake Tamula in Võru and the finish is in Võõpsu. 24 hours is allotted to competitors.

MAY 2014 7.-10.05.2014 Tartu, Prima Vista literature In May, the Prima Vista literature festival will come to Tartu. For years, the festival has been offering a chance to be a part of many different special www.kirjandusfestival.tartu.ee/home festival cultural events. This year’s festival calls on participants to think about youth and youthfulness and find the spirit of being young inside oneself. Prima Vista will feature the traditional book fair and Library in the Park, allow a singing writers’ concert to be enjoyed and meet literary luminaries. Estonian favourites and many acclaimed foreign authors will give public readings and lectures. The festival also has new book release parties, exhibitions, film screenings, spoken word performances and conversation circles. The “First Step” competition for best literary debut published in a periodical will take place. The patron of Prima Vista 2014 is Kristiina Ehin, and festival events will also be held in Rakvere.

11.05.2014 Tartu 32nd Tartu Marathon The 32nd Tartu Marathon, sponsored by SEB, is the biggest cross-country race in the Baltics. Thousands take part each year. The course passes through www.tartumaraton.ee the diverse southern Estonian landscape. Entrants can choose between 23 km and 10 km distances. Each can be covered by running or Nordic walking. Children's races will also be held.

17.05.2014 All over Estonia Museum Night On Museum Night, held countrywide, hundreds of museums and repositories of memory will open their doors free of charge from 18-23:00 and even oo.muuseum.ee later. Museums bog and small are open, regardless of form of ownership and field. As will archives, windmills, wool factories, churches and many other establishments. Estonia first took part in pan-European museum night in 2009, when the centennial of the and national museum year were celebrated.

The festival is a party for all who love puppet theatre - a funferal where people learn and teach, give and receive, and where recognition is accorded to the stewards of the Estonian puppetry tradition. 22.-25.05.2014 Pärnu X Pärnu International Choir This choir festival is one of the most popular and cheerful musical celebrations in the resort town before it is declared the capital of summer. The Pärnu www.prkf.ee Festival International Choir Festival started in 1996 and is meant for all types of amateur choirs. The festive opening concert, main concert and closing gala take place in the Pärnu Concert Hall, while joint concerts of choirs are held in the city and Pärnu County, a folk song competition for choirs, children's and youth choir concerts, a youth party, choirs' joint concerts in the city and Pärnu County, a festival cafe is open, the winners of the competition receive awards at the closing evening. An oratorio or other large form is also performed at each festival: this year it will be Faure's Requiem.

29.-31.05.2014 Tallinn, Tartu Tour of Estonia 2014 A race featuring top international cycling talent. The stages connect Estonia's beautiful cities and villages. 4.-8.06.2014 Tartu International Wind Band The festival is first and foremost geared to bands and wind ensembles, but other artistic groups are also welcome. The festival area begins at the Puppet Theatre in Tallinn and runs along Lai tänav, filling the whole block with festival hubbub and street performers for four days. 27.-29.06.2014 Pärnu XIII Pärnu Harmonica The Pärnu Harmonica Festival is the largest and best-known music festival in the region centring on the harmonica and diatonic accordion. The goals are to put value on lifelong learning in the field of music, as well as on the harmonic and accordion as instruments with unlimited possibilities and including internationally acclaimed professional musicians in the festival activities. The festival will be held on three days in Pärnu (27-29 June 2014) with the Baltic Nordic OPEN competition and eight concerts held, harmonicas and accordions ringing out in Pärnu Concert Hall, the Kuursaal, the Kuursaal open air stage and elsewhere in town. The festival is popular among both young and old and has become a top event for the capital of summer. For many, taking part in the music event has led them to start their own musical path and thus it has broadened the worldview of children, adults and the elderly.

June-September 2014 (dates Haapsalu Nargenfestival The bookends for Nargenfestival 2014 are, as always, the Kreek Days, which take place in Haapsalu in early June and the Arvo Pärt Days in September, www.nargenfestival.ee are to be detailed) when the composer’s music is performed by world-class musicians. Concerts and performances can be seen all summer long in Haapsalu, Tallinn and Naissaar Island. The Dance Festival performances will be held fro 4-6 July at Tallinn's Kalev Central Stadium. The first concert of the Song Festival will be held on 5 July and the second concert will be on 6 July. Hirvo Surva is the artistic director of the Song Festival. The head director of the Dance Festival is Maido Saar, and the musical director is Toomas Lunge. The concept and narrative of the dance festival was conceived by Sten Weidebaum.

9.-11.07.2014 Tallinn TV-tower BASE Boogie 2014 / TV Per tradition, we will be celebrating the TV Tower's birthday this year as well - the 34th anniversary of the first opening of the tower. This year's www.teletorn.ee Tower's birthday festivities will last three days. From 9-11 July, BASE Jump Boogie will be held for the third time - parachute jumps from the . This year will see 70 brave souls from all over the world take the plunge. BASE jumpers from Estonia, Finland, , Russia, the US, Sweden, , and many other countries will participate. While the extreme sports athletes are jumping, children and adults alike can enjoy various activities on the green outside the TV Tower.

9.-12.07.2014 Tallinn Õllesummer Õllesummer is Estonia's biggest open air festival, held for the 21st time in 2014. Over the four days, many Estonian and international artists will take one www.ollesummer.ee of seven stages, and a number of special projects will also be aired. The food court has close to 50 places to eat, with different flavours. Children and grown-ups will have plenty of things to do - like a full-scale Tivoli style amusement park. Each year, Õllesummer is visited by around 60,000 people.

12.-13.07.2014 Tartu Tartu Thriatlon The main race on day 1 of the Tartu Triathlon is Olympic standard (1.5 km swimming, 40 km of cycling and 10 km of running) and challengers include www.tartutriatlon.ee athletes from the Baltic Cup series and ETL cup elite classes. Competitions will also be held for teens and amateurs (0.5 km swim, 20 km cycle and 5 km running) and kids (0.15 km swim, 3 km cycle, 1 km running). On Sunday, Europe's top triathletes will compete in Tartu in the European Cup sprint distances (0.75 km swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run).

Concerts are held in the Church of Mary Magdalene, which is renowned for its acoustics, and a number of other smaller churches in the area.
