6 Présentation e la city à la cité propose pour la troisième année consécutive un festival autour du légendaire producteur/ DDJ/Artiste/Ecrivain/Animateur radio anglais, Andrew Weatherall. C’est un festival qui mêle Musique et gastronomie dans un lieu exceptionnel, le Château Comtal, situé à l’intérieur de la Cité médiévale à Carcassonne.

« De la City à la cité » et Andrew Weatherall vous donnent rendez-vous dans la cour d’honneur du château Comtal pour deux jours de concerts, DJ sets et bonne bouffe… le vendredi 25 et le samedi 26 Septembre 2015.

Comme chaque année, « De la City à la Cité » a donné à Andrew Weatherall carte blanche pour être le curateur d’un évènement international qui attire plus de mille Britanniques par jour à Carcassonne!

Le festival a été créé en 2013 par Bernie Fabre et Benjamin Estève. Après le succès de la première édition, ils ont souhaité donner une autre dimension au festival en investissant un lieu incomparable :

LE LIEU epuis la deuxième édition, nous avons établi un partenariat avec le Centre des D monuments nationaux, qui permet au festival d’investir la cour d’honneur du châ- teau Comtal le vendredi et le samedI. LE FES- TIVAL

16 LE PUBLIC e festival attire une majorité de Britanniques (Londres, Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin, Leeds…), beaucoup de Barcelonais, d’Alle- mands… Nous tirons profit des lignes aériennes directes Londres Stansted-Carcassonne, Glasgow-Carcassonne, Dublin-Carcas- sonne ainsi que Manchester-Beziers pour faire de ce festival un rendez-vous annuel pour le public Britannique. Toutes les conditions sont réunies pour que l’ambiance soit au top. LCela tient aussi à la limitation de la jauge : un total de 3000 personnes pour les deux jours. On est loin des grandes concentrations musicales quasi-industrielles. Le festival attire un public de trentenaires voire de quadras. Et quand il vient de loin, de Grande-Bretagne, de toute l’Europe, et même d’autres continents (cette année Japon, Australie et Etats-Unis), il est plutôt aisé et bien élevé.

Les festivaliers sont très sensibles à l’équation : bonne musique + bonne bouffe + bon vin. Un sommelier de renom, OLIVIER ZAVATTIN, sélectionne les meilleurs vins régionaux…

COMMUNICATION plan communication en France prévoit de renouveler des collaborations avec le journal « Libération », l’hebdomadaire «Télérama », et l’agence de création « Hans Lucas ». Nous sommes aussi en contact avec « Radio Nova », la chaine « Arte » et le journal «Le monde» qui sont favorables pour relayer l’information pour l’évènement.Le Pour le Royaume-Uni, tous les magazines qui ont présenté le festival en 2014, feront de même en 2015. En outre, le grand quotidien « THE GUARDIAN » souhaite couvrir l’évènement cette année. Le magasin/label londonien ROUGH TRADE sera partenaire de l’événement, garantis- sant une visibilité exceptionnelle à Londres (flyers,affiches, newsletter…)

Offrir les clefs d’un festival à un seul et même artiste de façon pérenne, ça ressemble, de fait, à un événement à caractère obsessionnel. Bernard Fabre et Benjamin Esteve, sous la bannière de «De la city à la cité», organisent, à Carcassonne, pour la deuxième année consécutive, le festival Andrew Wea- theral, sorcier de l’electro britannique, qui donne son nom à ce rassemblement qui aura lieu fin septembre. Le DJ anglais, ours tranquille et pilier de la scène musicale outre-Manche, a accepté l’invitation et nourrit le line-up d’in- vités de la scène rockabilly, post-punk, krautrock, electro et forcément dub, son obsession à lui, dont il sert régulièrement de belles trouvailles sur BBC6: les Perpignanais psyché The Liminanas, l’electro de Scott Fraser ou le duo roumain Khidja. Cette année, le festival prend ses aises dans la cour du château Comtal. «Andrew est un artiste intéressant à plusieurs titres: c’est l’un des meilleurs DJs anglais. Il a été précurseur de la musique électronique au Royaume-Uni. Il a produit Primal Scream, remixé Björk et Nick Cave, sa collection de vinyles en dub reggae est l’une des plus importantes d’Angleterre. Il a accepté de participer à la programmation à notre initiative, explique Benjamin Esteve. A ma gauche, l’Anglais Andrew Weatherall, entré dans l’histoire pour avoir aidé ses compatriotes de Primal Scream à accomplir leur virage électro avec l’album Screamadelica (1991). A ma droite, le Chilien Matias Aguayo entré dans l’histoire pour avoir publié en solo ou en duo (sous l’alias Closer Musik) quelques-uns des plus beaux morceaux jamais sortis sur le label allemand Kompakt. Stade ultime de la classe et de la reconnaissance, l’Anglais lance la première édition de son festival, le Andrew Weatherall Festival, où il joue et programme ses potes (les 26 et 27 septembre), dans cette belle ville de Carcassonne.
