Introduction

Parallels Operations Automation is an Operations Support System designed for the unique needs of Cloud services providers. It enables them to deliver any application or service in a hosted environment, increasing revenue per user and decreasing costs and time to market. This release of Parallels Operation Automation, as always, incorporates feedback we receive from our Cloud services provider partners. The new features in this release underscore our commitment both to our Cloud services providers and to continuously improving our product. Below is a listing of the key new features and improvements in Parallels Operations Automation 5.3. Please refer to the Parallels Operations Automation 5.3 Release Notes for the most comprehensive list of changes in this new version.

Top New Features

Top Improvements

Top improvements in Parallels Operations Automation 5.3 include a number of performance improvements, task management improvements, and deployment options, as well as several other enhancements.

SaaS Improvements Improvements to SaaS module in Parallels Operations Automation 5.3 include: • Accounting of application resources. Application and its components may expose internal resources (like disk space or traffic) for Parallels Operation Automation to account and bill for them. Customer can manage of resource limits and distribute them between end-users. • Application components and menu items for end-users. Service providers may configure an application and its components to be accessed from the left menu of end-user control panel. Depending on application, end-user can either view or manage application components.

Shared Hosting Improvements Parallels Operations Automation 5.3 makes several improvements to shared hosting including usability improvements of the Shared Hosting panel.

Messaging and Collaboration Improvements • BlackBerry™ Enterprise Server Provisioning Is Improved • Support of SharePoint Foundation 2010 SP1 and June 2011 Cumulative Update • Cumulative Update for Office Communications Server 2007 R2: June, 2011 Is Supported • Exchange 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 5 Support • Exchange 2007 SP3 Update Rollup 5 Support

Deployment Improvements Parallels Operations Automation 5.3 includes several improvements to deployment options: • Support for shared hosting under R2. Parallels Operations Automation 5.3 supports the Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) for the IIS7.5 Shared hosting services • Improvements of the automated deployment of Windows hosting infrastructure. Automatic deployment of the Windows hosting infrastructure combines the deployment and configuration processes of the server, SQL Server instance, Microsoft Provisioning System server, and other Windows-based services components, resulting in greatly improved deployment times. Automated deployment is accomplished by assigning a role to each server being deployed. This role defines the set of parameters to be applied during deployment, as well as the Parallels

Package Manager packages to be installed on the server, if applicable.

Other Improvements Other improvements in Parallels Operations Automation 5.3 include: • Parallels Automation Platform improvements:

o Upgrade of the Linux System Database to PostgreSQL 9.0 o Number of system wide performance improvements including improvements of login operations, improvements of the page loading times on long lists.

o Java Runtime Environment upgrade on UI servers • Number of diagnostic improvements including improvements in the • Support for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Linux 4.7. Parallels Operations Automation 5.3 supports Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Linux 4.7. • Disk I/O resource type for VPS hosting • WPE request tracer tool is added, which allows to trace and analyze provisioning requests submitted to Parallels Windows Provisioning Engine • DNS Record Creation Wizard is improved

Dropped Functionality The following functions have been dropped from Parallels Operations Automation 5.3: • Dropped support of UI servers on RHES3. Migration of UI servers to the newer version must be done before upgrade to POA 5.3. • Support for osCommerce hosting. Parallels Operations Automation 5.3 no longer supports the special osCommerce hosting type. APS applications are available for offering this functionality to customers. • Support for @-domains • Support for Game Hosting
