What’s in the St. Boniface Archives? Updated February 4, 2014 Many things are here, many kinds of things – written records, diaries, books, photographs, paintings, class yearbooks, anniversary celebrations, family and town histories, digitized oral history, CDs, cemetery maps, computer resources, digitized tapes, artifacts (“pieces of history”), old tools from farm and home. Many of these things are from the distant past, but significant things up to the present may also be included – they will become past soon enough. St. Boniface Archives & Museum is for us and for the future. Your children may come here to study their ( and your) past. Please consider adding your own information or historical items and volunteer to help. This list is for visitors and researchers to find things and to browse with. Not all of the material is on display at any one time. The rest is filed and stored. Ask to see what you are interested in. This list is divided into categories, as follows: Table of Contents 01- BOOKS ON SHELVES and in display cases - hardboard and larger softbound, histories, larger family histories, class yearbooks, etc 02- FAMILY HISTORIES IN FOLDERS IN BOXES OR ON SHELVES - typically text with pictures in binders 03 PHOTOS IN FOLDERS IN BOXES OR ON SHELVES - a general resource filed by subject, like period, weddings, graduations, agriculture, family names (but not specific family donations, which are kept together in their own folder below.) 04- PHOTOS ON BULLETIN BOARD DISPLAYS - may be temporarily from the PHOTOS IN FOLDERS IN BOXES above to be returned , otherwise should be copies to prevent loss or deterioration 05- DONATED FAMILY PHOTOS & RECORDS IN FOLDERS IN BOXES - (may amount to a mini-family history) one of the most important and frequent categories, usually a family donation, kept together in a folder to be easily accessible by family descendants and researchers. These are an especial responsibility 06- DOCUMENTS, LARGE - architectural drawings in large boxes or file cabinets, old self- contained parish card files, other documents on wall or in display case etc. 07- DOCUMENTS OR EVENTS IN FOLDERS IN BOXES - newspaper clippings, celebrations and changes, dedications, ground breaking, new grotto, etc. 7 08- ARTIFACTS (THINGS) - large and small, wall paintings, free-standing or hanging display 1 items 09- CDs, DVDs, AUDIO or VIDEO CASSETTES IN THEIR SPECIAL FILE DRAWERS - may be also on the computer for access or playback but not only on the computer 10- COMPUTER-Documents-including THIS ONE-other programs, photo files, etc. They should not be only in the computer 11- INTERNET www.saintboniface.net - Archives, History of Sublimity, etc 12- DONATED ITEMS - A running “temporary” list of donors. Add donors (with the items) at the bottom as donations are made. Give receipts as applicable. As items are placed in the appropriate category, with the location and donor, they are removed from the donor list. In this simple catalog one item normally appears in only one place. That is, each record or line item will contain all it’s information. Some special or composite items (e.g. Vera Boedigheimer’s scrapbook) may remain indefinitely in the DONATIONS list pending cataloging or final disposition. Note that searching for a donor’s name will locate in sequence every donation of that donor. Generally, every ITEM (or GROUP of SIMILAR ITEMS) listed in the CATEGORIES should have a LINE containing its TITLE, DATE (Period), DONOR & DATE, and LOCATION, and additional LINE(S) of DESCRIPTION, etc. if appropriate. Every time this document is changed copy it to a removable media and store in a safe place! Periodically print it and put into a binder for easy reference by visitors and for the record. 01- BOOKS ON SHELVES and in Display Cases Religious Books 1858-2-German Catholic Song Books-one of these belonged to Agatha Kintz brought from Minnesota--Vera Boedigheimer-2006 1858-German Catholic Hymnal-Agatha Kintz from Minnesota--Vera Boedigheimer-2006 1884-2-The Roman Hymnal-English & Latin Hymns, by Rev.
