NEW REGULATIONS REGARDING OIL BOOMS AND ANCHORAGE MARINE CHARGES:

We would like to inform all our valued customers that effective July 1st 2006, Sharjah ports authority (Sharjah, Khorfakkan, Kalba ports) has introduced new regulations regarding oil booms & anchorage marine charges:

A) Oil Booms: According to the instructions given by the Harbour Master of Khorfakkan and Kalba, oil booms are compulsory onboard the bunkering barges in order to be used if necessary in case of any oil pollution. Fyi, all our bunker barges have always been equipped with oil booms. In order to further safeguard our operations and at no extra cost to our customers who in turn have a potential huge benefit in case of an accident, we have since 2003, obtained Oil Spill Response Services Cover. Specifically, we have contracted Fender and Spill Response Services LLC (www.fsrs.com) of , an oil spill response specialist to provide us with an AMPD (Average Most Probable Discharge) cover that is specifically designed for spills that may occur during the transfer of hydrocarbons from one ship to another. Under this cover, FSRS is monitoring all our operations and is standing by to swiftly respond with human resources and equipment that are stationed inside the Port of Fujairah.

B) Anchorage Marine Charges: Sharjah Ports and Customs have introduced a new anchorage fee for the vessels anchoring at Sharjah / Khorfakkan / Kalba, this charge is to be borne by the buyer. The cost is minimal and is based on the GRT of the vessel. USD 0.0082 per GRT for the first three (3) days the vessel is at anchorage then USD 0.0082 per day for the next seven (7) days and then USD 0.0136 per day for the next (11) days. Vessel’s are not permitted to remain at anchorage for more than twenty one (21) days. When a vessel has an agent the charge will be paid by the agent and passed on to the owner. In the case the vessel calls for bunkers only OMTI will act as agent and the charge will appear on the invoice to our customer. If a vessel under our agency requires any further services that either have been arranged by us or by the owner directly (ie lubricants, underwater cleaning, deslopping, crew change, spares and stores etc.) we have to be informed in advance and a small agency fee will apply for the coordination and necessary permissions required. Trust the above clarify the issue. If any further information is required please do not hesitate to contact us. We are looking forward to your continuous support and always assure you of our usual first class service.
