The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) is planning to close the I-80 eastbound and westbound off-ramps at 4th Street nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, Feb- ruary 26 through Friday, March 2. Crews will alternate work between eastbound and westbound ramps so that both ramps will not be closed at the same time. The closures are weather permitting. The closures are needed for the safety of construction crews and drivers while the team upgrades utilities and electrical infrastructure. Drivers are encouraged to use Wells Avenue as a detour. The work is part of the 4th Street/Prater Way Bus RAPID Transit Project. The RTC urges drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to use extra caution in construction work zones. For the latest updates, text 4PRATER to 797979, or visit 4thPrater.com to sign up for email notifications. The work is part of an overall $58 million investment in the community to better connect Downtown Reno and Downtown Sparks and provide access to jobs and education opportu- nities. The 4th Street/Prater Way Bus RAPID Transit Project involves widening sidewalks, adding bike lanes, adding new landscaping and moving utilities underground. The final com- ponent of the project will be a new RAPID bus line, called the LINCOLN LINE, debuting in late 2018. The new line celebrates the famous Lincoln Highway. Completion of construction is anticipated in fall of 2018.
