Last month the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport was pleased to announce that 2016 was another record-breaking year for the film and Updated locations in television production industry in Ontario. There was steady growth across Toronto & Mississauga the industry, in both foreign and domestic productions that contributed (page 7) $1.7 billion to the economy in 2016. The industry accounted for more than 35,000 full-time direct and spin-off jobs, representing an increase of nearly 3,200 jobs over the previous year. Underpass Park (L2826) Underpass Park is the most extensive park to ever be built under an overpass in Canada, and the first of its kind in To- ronto. There are skateboard ledges, a sloping concrete area and basketball hoops. Many graffiti-style murals have been painted on the underpasses. The west side is more open and has a play area for kids, with swings, a see-saw, jungle gym equipment, hopscotch and four square area and an art installation above entitled “Mirage”. Benches are scattered strategically throughout, and LED spotlights illuminate the space at night. Parking lot near St. Lawrence Street.

Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica of Ottawa (L4746) A designated heritage building, the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica of Ottawa is the largest and oldest church in Ottawa. This church was built 1841, with expansion until 1865. In 1849, it was remodeled to Gothic style with three naves, with the Gothic apse was added at the rear in 1862. In 1879, remodel- ling of the interior commenced, which included the construc- tion of the detailed altar, side altars and stained glass win- dows. Other features of the interiors include; twin steeples at 59 metres high, an arched ceiling with ribs, wooden columns painted to look like marble. 155 statues of assorted heavenly figures adorn the sanctuary. On the balcony level, there’s an organ and choir loft.

De La Salle Secondary School (École Secondaire publique De La Salle) (L15818) Built in 1968, this four-storey red brick vocational arts secondary school in Ottawa has 68 classrooms, 12 labs, two gymnasiums, a cafeteria, library resource centre, music rooms with practice pods, dance studios and photography dark rooms. It also has a 700 seat auditorium, football field and large parking facilities.

EY Centre (L15882) Dubbed the largest multi-purpose exhibition facility in Eastern Ontario, the EY Centre is an event venue in Ottawa. Featuring a total of 220,000 square feet of column-free function space with easy access doors, 23’ ceilings, 20’x20 direct access, eight truck-level loading bays, four meeting rooms, movable walls, retail food space, and show office.

IN THE LOOP - ISSUE 121 - MAY 2017 11 (L5283) The historic Rideau Canal Waterway, built in 1826 to 1832, which con- nects Kingston in the south to Ottawa in the north, runs 125 miles long. Urban canal section winds through with a variety of bridges and landscapes from parks to modern office buildings and stately homes. The waterway is operational from May through October. In winter the Ottawa portion of the canal is made into a gigantic skating rink. Since 1971 the National Capital Commission has maintained the canal’s ice surface in winter. Known in winter as the Rideau Canal Skate- way, it is 7.2 km long starting at the Rideau Street Bridge and ending Pedestrian Concourse at the Hartwell Locks. Please note: the green space and staking rink are managed by the National Capital Commission & the waterway is man- aged by Parks Canada.

The clubhouse has an event space and meeting room called Harbourview Hall with wood beamed ceiling on the second floor. Also, there is a bar, lounge, and offices. Deck off the clubhouse faces the marina and boat docks. Boat storage is available on grounds of the property.
