The doctor’s importance, basis of knowledge, social status, and role in the opera change in the historic development of opera. Whereas in the 18th century the doctor does not have a healing function but plays a buffoon in a supportive role, in the 19th century he appears both as charlatan and already as a scientifically trained physician. In the 20th century, the doctor plays a major role in a socially superior position and, in addition to being a clinician, he is often depicted as a researcher. The dynamics of the physician’s role in opera history, on the one hand, reflects the development of medicine and, on the other hand, illustrates the development of the social position of doctors and the public attitude towards the medical profession over the last centuries. It was long considered one of the seven ‘artes liberales’ at European universities (along with grammar, dialectic, rhetoric, arithmetic, geometry and astronomy) that were a prerequisite for advanced graduate studies (1). -

Abstract This PhD thesis argues that, in the 1950s and 1960s, several Italian experimental writers developed photographic and cinematic modes of writing with the aim to innovate poetic form and content. By adopting an interdisciplinary framework, which intersects literary studies with visual and intermedial studies, this thesis analyses the works of Antonio Porta, Amelia Rosselli, and Edoardo Sanguineti. These authors were particularly sensitive to photographic and cinematic media, which inspired their poetics. Antonio Porta’s poetry, for instance, develops in dialogue with the photographic culture of the time, and makes references to the photographs of crime news. -

Lieu : RAI congrescentrum Orchestre : Orchestre Metrople. d’Amsterdam ( Pays-Bas ). Présentation : Willy Dobbe. Date : Samedi 21 Mars. Réalisateur : Theo Ordeman. Durée : 1h 15. Des quatre pays gagnants en 1969 ce sont les Pays-Bas qui, suite à un tirage au sort, se chargent de recevoir le concours 1970. Mais le résultat du concours 1969 a laissé des traces dans les mémoires. Les pays scandinaves décidèrent de ne pas participer, en partie à cause du système d’attribution des points, peut-être aussi en raison de leurs propres résultats. En Norvège le concours 1969 et la chanson représentant le pays ont déclenché une telle polémique que la télévision locale ne semble pas avoir jugé bon d’affronter à nouveau une certaine élite intellectuelle qui déclarait le concours trop commercial et médiocre. Le Portugal sélectionne un candidat et une chanson, mais se retire finalement en solidarité des pays nordiques. Un point de règlement est pourtant rajouté pour éviter qu’à nouveau plusieurs chansons puissent arriver ex aequo en tête. Si tel était le cas, les deux chansons seraient représentées et chaque jury aurait à voter pour sa chanson préférée. Si elles obtenaient à nouveau le même nombre de voix, elles seraient déclarées gagnantes. Ce sont donc seulement douze pays qui se présentent sur la scène de l’Eurovision 1970. Un mobile composé de sphères et de demi-cercles occupe la scène et permet, à travers l’éclairage qu’il reçoit, de créer une ambiance propre à chaque chanson. Cette structure s'effondrera pourtant pendant une répétition générale, mais restera en place pendant le concours. -
