The gate was constructed by the Kaga feudal lord (Maeda Nariyasu, the 13th lord of the Kaga Domain) in 1827 to receive Princess Yasu (Yasuhime), a daughter of the dictator of Japan in those days (Tokugawa Ienari, the 11th shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate), as his offi cial wife.
