Celebrating on World Day

Six months into the pandemic, the "new normal" is here. Most of us have adjusted to our new way of life, finding healthy and safe ways to do what we love, like traveling.

Today is World Tourism Day, a chance to reflect on the power of tourism in our community and beyond.

For Columbus visitors, we're fortunate to have advocates like Experience Columbus, Ohio & Lodging Association, Greater Columbus Center and others who work to position our city as a destination. As a result, tax revenue generated by visitors to Franklin County is estimated at $1.25 billion, providing millions in support to local human services, economic development and the arts.

While tourism has been one of the hardest hit sectors during the pandemic, efforts like the Live Forward Pledge, signed by CRAA and many other organizations, are reassuring people they can visit our city safely.

Travelers leaving Columbus can feel good about getting away too. Tourism creates jobs, promotes cultural understanding, and drives community development.

Ohioans looking to escape the colder months can look forward to new nonstop service to destinations like Cancun and Fort Myers starting in December. Click here to start planning your next adventure.

Whether you're arriving or departing, you can travel with confidence through our airports thanks to extensive new health and safety measures, including recently achieving the cleaning industry's gold standard of sanitization at John Glenn International.

People will always have a desire to get away, to escape everyday life, and satisfy a sense of wanderlust. Our city, our destinations and our airports are ready when you are.
