As a central coordinating point, we provide assistance in areas such as: • Continuing Medical Education (CME) training • Enquiries about our hospital’s services and/or specialists • Medical appointments and patient referrals Through building these important platforms of shared care and communication, we hope that our patients will be the greatest beneficiaries. It offers adult and paediatric services, including separate Accident & Emergency departments for both groups of patients. The hospital provides organ transplant programmes for adults (in kidney, liver and pancreas) and is the only public hospital in Singapore to offer a paediatric kidney and liver transplant programme. A member of the National University Health System, it is the principal teaching hospital of the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLL SoM) and NUS Faculty of Dentistry (FoD). With combined resources from the NUS YLL SoM and NUS FoD, the NUH is poised to meet the healthcare needs of patients, train future generations of doctors more effectively, and help develop solutions to our healthcare problems through research. In 2007, the NUH was chosen by the Ministry of Health to develop two new national centres, the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) and the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS) to meet the growing needs for cardiac and cancer treatment. The NUH raised the bar in local patient care and safety standards by achieving the Joint Commission International accreditation in 2004. The hospital has since been re-certified three times, also becoming the first local hospital to be accredited under Academic Medical Centre (AMC) Standards for medical education and human subjects research in 2013. Today, patient safety and good clinical outcomes remain the focus of the hospital as it continues to play a key role in the training of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, and in translational research which paves the way for new cures and lease of life. 3 CONTENTS National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) Multidisciplinary Tumour Groups Breast 09 Colorectal 12 Gynaecologic 15 Haematologic (Adult & Paediatric) 18 Head & Neck 23 Hepatobiliary 28 Musculoskeletal / Sarcoma 32 Thoracic 35 Upper Gastrointestinal 38 Urologic 41 Specialisations Gynaecologic Oncology 44 Haematology 45 Medical Oncology 47 Paediatric Haematology - Oncology 50 Palliative Care 52 Radiation Oncology 53 Surgical Oncology 55 National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS) Cardiology Adult Congenital 62 Cardiac Genetics 63 Electrophysiology 64 General Cardiology 65 Heart Failure 70 Interventional Cardiology 71 Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery Adult Cardiac Surgery 73 Cardiac Paediatric Surgery 76 Cardiothoracic Intensive Care 77 Thoracic Surgery 78 Vascular Surgery 79 National University Centre for Organ Transplantation (NUCOT) Kidney Transplantation 83 Liver Transplantation 84 Pancreas Transplantation 86 Khoo Teck Puat - National University Children’s Medical Institute (KTP-NUCMI) Neonatology 89 Paediatric Medicine 91 Paediatric Surgery 105 University Orthopaedics, Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery Cluster (UOHC) Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Foot & Ankle Surgery 109 Hip & Knee Surgery 110 4 Musculoskeletal Oncology 112 Musculoskeletal Trauma 113 Paediatric Orthopaedics 114 Shoulder & Elbow Surgery 115 Spine Surgery 116 Sports Medicine & Surgery 117 Department of Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery 119 Specialist Clinical Departments Anaesthesia 121 Diagnostic Imaging 129 Emergency Medicine 135 Laboratory Medicine 141 Obstetrics & Gynaecology 149 Ophthalmology 157 Otolaryngology 161 Pathology 165 National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS) Endodontics 173 Oral Maxillofacial Surgery 174 Orthodontics 175 Paediatric Dentistry 176 Periodontics 177 Prosthodontics 178 University Medicine Cluster Acute Care 183 Advanced Internal Medicine 184 Dermatology 186 Endocrinology 187 Gastroenterology & Hepatology 189 Geriatrics 192 Infectious Diseases 193 Nephrology 195 Neurology & Rehabilitation Medicine 197 Psychological Medicine 200 Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine 202 Rheumatology 205 University Surgical Cluster Colorectal Surgery 209 General Surgery (Breast Surgery) 210 General Surgery (Minimally Invasive Surgical Centre) 211 General Surgery (Thyroid & Endocrine Surgery) 212 General Surgery (Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery) 213 Hepatobillary & Pancreatic Surgery 214 Neurosurgery 215 Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery 216 Urology 217 NUH Wellness Centre 219 Index 223 5 NUH CAMPUSNUH Campus MAP Map LOWER KENT RIDGE ROAD Bus # 97, 197, 198, 963 FACULTY AYER RAJAH EXPRESSWAY (AYE) OF DENTISTRY To Main Building MEDICAL DRIVE & Emergency /Children’s Emergency Bus # 97, (drop off only) 197, 963 Lobby A Emergency/ Children’s Emergency Bus # 95 Bus # 95 WARDS Lobby B To Medical Centre 20 – 28, 33, & Kent Ridge Wing 41 – 48, 51 – 56, 61 – 64 A B North Entrance C WARDS 2A, 5A, 6A – 6B, 7A – 7B, 8A – 8C, 9A – 9B FROM AYE (CITY) South Entrance KENT RIDGE ROAD Bus # 92, 200 NUHS TOWER BLOCK Bus # 92, 200 SOUTH BUONA VISTA ROAD NOT DRAWN TO SCALE Drop off only Taxi Stand / Drop off A Linkway @ Level 1 via MRT station (Exit A) Bus Stop Kent Ridge MRT Station B Linkway @ Level 1 @ Level 1 C Linkway @ Level 4 Carpark WHERE OUR WARDS ARE LOCATED Main Building Ward 20 – 28 : Level 2 • Ward 33 : Level 3 • Ward 41 – 48 : Level 4 • Ward 51 – 56 : Level 5 • Ward 61 – 64 : Level 6 Kent Ridge Wing Ward 2A : Level 2 • Ward 5A : Level 5 • Ward 6A – 6B : Level 6 • Ward 7A – 7B : Level 7 • Ward 8A – 8C : Level 8 • Ward 9A – 9B : Level 9 6 NCIS The National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) is a national specialist centre for cancer located at the National University Hospital (NUH). A member of the National University Health System (NUHS), it is the only public cancer centre in Singapore treating both paediatric and adult cancers in one facility. The goal of the NCIS is to provide comprehensive yet personalised care for each and every patient incorporating cancer awareness, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care. With the patient being the focus of all our programmes, sound medical knowledge and advanced technology are combined with the human touch of specialist doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals in innovative ways to fight cancer. Many of our clinicians serve as surgeons or physicians while lecturing at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Their dual roles have enabled them to be attuned to the latest medical developments and together with their involvement in cutting-edge research, they are able to bring new cures and treatments that benefit patients at the NCIS. Our multidisciplinary tumour groups include: • Breast • Musculoskeletal / Sarcoma • Colorectal • Neuro-Oncology • Gynaecologic • Skin • Haematologic (Adult & Paediatric) • Thoracic • Head & Neck • Upper Gastrointestinal •
