With the 2014 Winter Games around the corner, Olympic fever is in the air!

The 1980 Winter in Lake Placid marked the fairytale story of the very amateur 1980 United States hockey team and their impossible defeat of the not-so- amateur powerhouse Soviet Union. It's a story that every hockey fan, every American, knows by heart.

Tied 3-3 in the third period and with only ten minutes left to the game, scored the famous fourth and winning goal. With 's solid play at the net, the US team defeated the Soviets 4-3. The US win over the long- dominant and heavily-favored Soviets in the the event became known as "The Miracle on Ice. " It would go down as the greatest defining stories in US sports history.

The miracle may have happened over three decades ago, but it continues to ring loudly in the hearts of Americans as if the initial celebration was still carrying on in the streets of Lake Placid that were bursting with national pride.

Meet The Players

Serving as the enthusiastic captain that led the 1980 United States Olympic Hockey Team to its Gold Medal victory at Lake Placid, Mike Eruzione was part of one of the great moments in sports history and topic of a 2001 HBO Documentary Film. For the past several years, Mike Eruzione has traveled the U.S.A. for major corporations and organizations as a motivational speaker and sports promoter and remains actively involved in fund raising events for the U.S. Olympic Committee.

An All-American goalie at Boston University and standout for the Terriers' 1978 NCAA championship squad, Jim Craig was selected as the starting goaltender for the U.S. 1980 Olympic hockey team. Indispensable to Team U.S.A.'s epic upset of the Soviet Union. In the game against the Soviets, the Americans were out shot 42-16, but Jim made 39 saves, many of the spectacular variety, and his teammates scored four times.
