The Petes are one of the few hockey teams in the world who operate as a not-for-profit. The team is owned by a volunteer Board of Directors, who take no money out of the team, but as stewards of the club, are liable for any losses it may incur. For that reason, and unlike almost every other team, all money that is generated by the club on an annual basis goes directly back into team operations to better the experience of players, staff, fans, and the larger community.

Led by President Dave Pogue, the Board meets regularly to ensure the strategic vision of the Peterborough Petes is set and executed, with a of maintaining - and building upon - the team’s legendary success on and off the ice. The team’s values include a focus on community, making Peterborough a hockey hub, and celebrating history while building for the future. The 2021-22 campaign will mark the 65th of Petes hockey in Peterborough.

2021 HOCKEY OPERATIONS

• Oke was named General Manager of the Petes on February 14, 2013. • Worked as Manager of Player Personnel & Director of Player Personnel in April & July, 2010. • Previously worked with International Scouting Services (ISS) as Chief Scout and subsequently General Manager/Chief Scout in September of 2008. • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of ISS, as well as the scouting staff responsible for producing reports on players eligible for the NHL Draft and CHL Drafts with ISS. • Named Assistant Coach in charge of video with Team Pacific at the 2008 World U-17 Hockey Challenge. • Previously worked as the Director of Player Personnel & Assistant Coach with the Michael Oke Oshawa Generals (2004-06). General Manager • Assistant Coach at Wilfrid Laurier University of the Ontario University Athletic Association.

• Wilson was named the 23rd Head Coach of the Petes on May 3, 2018. • Previously served as Head Coach of the DEL’s Nuremberg Ice Tigers from 2015- 18. • Named DEL Coach of the Year in 2016-17, & guided his team to league semi-final appearances each season with the club. • Coaching career began in 2003-04, and included stints in the EIHL and with Great Britain’s National Team, Neumarkt/Egna and Ritten/Renon in Italy, and one season with the DEL’s Straubing Tigers in 2014-15. • Played for the Petes during the 1988-89 season where he captured the J. Ross Robertson Cup as OHL champions that season.

Rob Wilson Head Coach

• “Verns” joined the Petes as Coach following a 17-year professional career spanning the AHL, Canadian National Team, and 14 seasons in Europe. • Andrew played for the Petes from 1989 to 1992. • Served as the team’s Interim Head Coach from January to April, 2018 and was Assistant Coach from August, 2014. • He was named Associate Coach in June, 2018. • He is a two-time OHL All-Star, 2nd round draft pick of the Oilers (1991), AHL Champion, Spengler Cup Gold Medalist, Men’s World Championship Silver and Bronze Medalist, and Austrian League Champion. • Named Goaltending Consultant for (U-17 team in 2014, 2015 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Cup Champions), the Austrian National Team, OHL/OHF U16, Andrew Verner and is the current Goaltending Consultant for the Peterborough Hockey Association Associate Coach and Peterborough Minor Hockey Council. 2021 HOCKEY OPERATIONS

• Walser Played 19 seasons of professional hockey between the NHL (Columbus), AHL (Syracuse, Saint John, Albany, Toronto), ECHL (Johnstown), KHL (Chekhov), Swiss-A (Rapperswil-Jona), and DEL (Berlin). • Was a Player/Head Coach for two seasons with the Belfast Giants of the Elite League (EIHL). • The career point-per-game was named QMJHL and CHL Defenceman of the Year in 1997-98. • Won the Spengler Cup (2012-13), AHL Calder Cup (2000-01), European Trophy (2010- 11), and the DEL Championship (2004-05, 2005-06, and 2010-11). • Named an All-Star in the QMJHL (1997, 1998), CHL (1998), ECHL (2000), AHL (2002, 2008), and EIHL (2016, 2017). Derrick Walser • Spent five seasons as a defenceman in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Assistant Coach with the Beauport Harfangs and Rimouski Oceanic.

• O’Connor joined the Petes as an assistant coach ahead of the 2019-20 season. • The England native came up through the Durham junior hockey system and went on to play for and Great Britain’s national junior team. • He turned pro in 1994, joining the where he spent the season playing with Petes Head Coach Rob Wilson and winning the BHL Championship. • Built a successful telecommunications company in the UK and a boxing gym (Brandon Boxing Club). • Joined the coaching staff of the for two seasons alongside Rob Wilson.

Patrick O‘Connor Assistant Coach

• Bucholtz is responsible for editing game film to assist the coaching staff in scouting opponents and analyzing tactics and systems. • Prior to joining the team in a full-time capacity, he spent three seasons as the video coordinator, and has been a long-time volunteer in numerous roles with both the business and hockey operations departments. • He was selected as a video coach for Team Canada at the 2019 & 2020 World U17 Hockey Challenge. • He has completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree at Ontario Tech University.

2021 HOCKEY OPERATIONS

• Duco works with the Petes in a part-time capacity while jointly working in a skill development role with the Okanaghan Hockey Group and as an AHL referee. • He was an Assistant Coach with the Petes for the 2017-18 season. • Prior to joining the Petes, he was the Head Coach of the ECHL’s Elmira Jackals after being promoted from Assistant Coach. • He played eight seasons of professional hockey between the NHL (, Florida), AHL (Toronto, Chicago, Rochester), ECHL (Evansville, Indy, Orlando), EIHL (EC Salzburg) and EBEL (Sheffield Steelers). • He was a forward with the for five seasons and was a member of the 2007-08 OHL Championship team. Skill Development Coach

• “BMan” is responsible for the day-to-day medical care and equipment needs of the Petes Players. • He won the gold medal as Equipment Manager with Canada’s National Jewish Hockey Team at the Maccabiah Games in Israel. • BMan won the OHL J. Ross Robertson Cup in 2006 with the Petes, and has worked several CHL events including Top Prospect games, All-Star games, Canada- series, and two Memorial Cups, as well the World U18 Championship in 2009 and the 2011 Canada Winter games with Team Ontario. • He was the Head Trainer and Equipment Manager of the AHL Saint John Flames for six seasons where he won the Calder Cup in 2001. • BMan holds a Bachelor of Phys-Ed from Brock University and is a graduate of Brian Miller the Sports Injury Management program at . Head Trainer & Equipment Manager

• Smith has been a part of the Petes staff since 2010 as an Assistant Trainer to Brian Miller. • He helps to prepare jerseys and socks for game night, sharpens skates, does the team’s laundry and repairs equipment.

• “Tash” joined the Petes in August, 2018. • She looks after the players as it pertains to their medical needs on and off the ice. • She holds a Specialized Honours Kinesiology and Health Science Degree and an Athletic Therapy Certificate obtained from York University. • Legacé is the Athletic Therapist for the Peterborough Lakers Senior A and works at Hybrid Health and Rehabilitation inside Hybrid FHP. • She has previously held roles with the , National Ballet of Canada, and numerous varsity teams.

• Gillam joined the Petes as the team’s Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in September, 2017. • Along with his performance team at Hybrid Fitness Health Performance, Josh executes tailored programs of strength and conditioning, mobility, activation, injury prevention, pre-game warm ups, post-game cool downs, and active recovery days with Petes players. • He graduated from Dartmouth College where was he was an Ivy League Division I dual-sport athlete in hockey and lacrosse. • He has played two seasons of professional hockey in Germany, five seasons in the with the Swarm, and won four Mann Cup championships with the Peterborough Sr. A Lakers. Josh Gillam Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

• Birkhof joined the Petes team as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in September, 2017. • He assists in the structure and implementation of all Strength and Conditioning programming for Petes players as well as the Hybrid FHP athletes year round. • He is also an NCCP Certified Olympic Weightlifting Coach and is currently enrolled at UOIT obtaining a degree in Education with a specialization in Adult Education. • Birkhof’s athletic career consisted of provincial championships in both boxing & football, a top five provincial finish in , and three seasons of Senior A Lacrosse. • Veitch has been involved with the Petes since 2014 as the Mental Health Coach. • He currently serves as the Manager of Community Engagement and Education with the HKPR Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association. • Prior to his public role, Veitch’s primary focus was the front line, one on one work with people living with persistent mental illness and forensic case management that saw him support inmates of Central East Correctional Centre. • He is celebrated across the for developing “Talk Today,” a program aimed to promote the mental health of young athletes and to spread awareness about the benefits of positive mental health.
