Because of exceptional features of animate and inanimate nature, large parts of the province are covered by various forms of nature protection. There is 1 national park (NP), 72 nature reserves (NRs), 9 landscape parks, 21 protected landscape areas and 40 Natura 2000 sites within the administrative borders of the province. The most unique natural features are found in the Świętokrzyski National Park (ŚNP), but the largest surface of the province is covered by protected landscape areas. Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship is the first in Poland in terms of the share of protected areas (as much as 65.2%), strongly outdistancing other Voivodeships. Small natural objects are much more numerous than large protected areas. At present, the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship has 705 natural monuments (NMs), 114 ecological sites (ESs), 20 documentation sites (DSs) and 17 nature and landscape complexes (NLCs). Moreover, new protected areas and sites may still be established within its borders. © IOŚ-PIB 1. INTRODUCTION [Polish Journal of Laws 2004, no. -

Homily of Pope John Paul II For the beatification of Federick Ozanam. 1. "Love is of God" (1 Jn 4:7). Today's Gospel presents us with the figure of the Good Samaritan. In this parable, Christ wants to show his listeners who is the neighbour mentioned in the great commandment of the divine law: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself" (Lk 10:27). A doctor of the law was asking what he should do to have eternal life: he found in these words the decisive answer. He knew that love of God and neighbour is the first and greatest of the commandments. -

A listening Church – A Synodal Church “Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.” (Rev 2:29) The world in which we live, and which we are called to love and serve, even with its contradictions, demands that the Church strengthen cooperation in all areas of her mission. It is precisely this path of synodality which God expects of the Church of the third millennium. (Pope Francis, Address Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Synod of Bishops, 2015) A synodal Church is a Church which listens, which realizes that listening “is more than simply hearing”. It is a mutual listening in which everyone has something to learn… all listening to the Holy Spirit, the “Spirit of truth” (Jn 14:17), in order to know what he “says to the Churches” (Rev 2:7)… (Pope Francis, Address Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Synod of Bishops, 2015) Pope Francis’ calls for “a listening church, a synodal church,” at all levels of church life. The Holy Spirit, he says, must be given breathing room to bring forth such a church. Quotes The Spirit’s instrument for interpreting divine revelation is the sensus fidei, a “sense of the faith”, or better, a sense for the faith. It is capacity which the Spirit gives, along with the gift of faith, for Parish to a every baptized believer and to the church as a whole. A synodal church is a church that listens to the Spirit communicating through the sense of all the faithful, the sensus fidelium. -

In actual fact, this took place during the academic ses- sion: “Martyrs and witnesses of faith. Communist repressions against the clergy in Rzeszów”, which took place at UR on 18th January 2005, with the participation of H.E. Archbishop Edward Nowak, the then secretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, since the said session was related to the ongoing beatifica- tion process of Fr. Władysław Findysz,1 martyr of the communist period in Po- land. During a conversation session with the participation of Archbishop Edward Nowak,2 the Rector of UR, prof. Włodzimierz Bonusiak,3 as well as the Ordinary of the Diocese of Rzeszów, H.E. Mons. Kazimierz Górny,4 the idea of granting the first doctor honoris causa at the 5th Anniversary of the establishment of UR 1 Blessed Władysław Findysz (1907-1964) a Polish Roman Catholic priest. He was imprisoned under the Communist regime in 1963 until not too long before his death on the charges of sending religious newsletters to his parishioners. -
The Holy See
The Holy See POPE JOHN PAUL II GENERAL AUDIENCE Wednesday, 18 June 1997 Historic celebrations marked Polish visit 1. I would like to begin today’s meeting by telling you about the recent pilgrimage to Poland which divine Providence gave me the opportunity to make. There were three principal reasons for this Pastoral Visit: the International Eucharistic Congress in Wroclaw, the 1,000th anniversary of St Adalbert’s martyrdom and the 600th anniversary of the foundation of the Jagiellonian University of Kraków. These events were the nucleus of the whole itinerary, which from 31 May to 10 June included Wroclaw, Legnica, Gorzów, Wielkopolski, Gniezno, Poznañ, Kalisz, Czêstochowa, Zakopane, LudŸmierz, Kraków, Dukla and Krosno, concentrating on three great cities: Wroclaw, the site of the 46th International Eucharistic Congress, Gniezno, a city linked with the death of St Adalbert, and Kraków, where the Jagiellonian University was founded. 2. The 46th International Eucharistic Congress in Wroclaw began on Trinity Sunday, 25 May, with the Eucharistic celebration presided at by my Legate, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, Secretary of State. A rich spiritual and liturgical programme filled the entire week, centring on the main theme: “For freedom Christ has set us free” (Gal 5:1). The Lord enabled me to take part in the conclusion of the work and so, on the last day of May, I was able to venerate Christ in the Eucharist, adoring him in the cathedral of Wroclaw together with people who had come from all over the world. That same day I took part in an ecumenical prayer service with representatives of the Churches and Ecclesial Communities. -
