This is an attempt to write the story of Scripture translations in Kenya. The story started in 1845 when J.L. Krapf, a German C.M.S. missionary, started his translations of Scriptures into Swahili, Galla and Kamba. The work of translation has since continued to go from strength to strength. There were many problems during the pioneer days. Translators did not know well enough the language into which they were to translate, nor could they get dependable help from their illiterate and semi literate converts. -

In my business, for example, statistics help me know where I can get raw materials, get to know the number of my customers and help me prepare products accordingly. Indeed, the numbers show the trend of my business which allows me to predict the future. My customers are both locals and foreigners who yearly visit the region. In June every year, I gather information from various institutions which receive foreign visitors here in Dodoma. With estimated number of visitors in hand, it gives me ample time to prepare products for my clients’ satisfaction. Challenging the Win-Win Proposition of Community-Based Wildlife Management in Tanzania
THE PIMA PROJECT RESEARCH DISSEMINATION NOTE Poverty ad ecosyste service ipacts of Tazaia’s Wildlife Maageet Areas BURUNGE WMA Map of Burunge WMA Burunge was registered in 2006 and received user rights in Manyara 2007. Its nine1 member villages are: Kakoi, Olasiti, Magara, Lake Manyara Ranch National Park Maweni, Manyara, Sangaiwe, Mwada, Ngolei, Vilima Vitatu. They are home to ca. 34,000 people of the Mbugwe, Barbaig, Iraqw, Maasai and Warusha ethnicities have set Burunge aside 280 km2 for wildlife conservation purposes, WMA facilitated by African Wildlife Foundation and Babati District. Located between Tarangire National Park, Tarangire Manyara Ranch and Lake Manyara National Park in Babati National Park district, Manyara region, the WMA features a large tourism potential. Currently the WMA has agreements with four tourism investors operating across 6 lodge sites and one hunting block. The PIMA project dissemination note Fig. 1: Map of Burunge WMA (white). This booklet presents the results of a 4 years project (2011-2015) by four geograph- ers from the university of Stockholm. This research took place in two small villages: Department of Human Geography Sibou, Kenya and Engaruka, Tanzania. The overall project looks at three variables: soil, climate and labor. These aspects can give an indication of the type of changes that happened in these irrigation systems and what have been the triggers behind them. Column chromatography was used to fractionate and purify the extract of the M. tomentosa leaves and the chemical structures of the compounds were determined using spectroscopic techniques. -

Bhotiyas, Boxas, Tharus, Jaunsaris and Rhajis are the tribal groups inhabiting in Uttaranchal. Analysis of data indicates that information on 163 plants is significant as it provides some new information of the ethnoveterinary uses. The study is expected to provide basic data for further studies aimed at conservation of traditional medicine and economic welfare of rural people at the study area. In vivo studies showed that BPA exposure has deleterious effects on spermatogenesis by disturbing the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis and inducing oxidative stress in testis. This compound seems to disrupt hormone signalling even at low concentrations, modifying the levels of inhibin B, oestra- diol, and testosterone. The adverse effects on seminal parameters are mainly supported by studies based on urinary BPA concentration, showing a negative association between BPA levels and sperm concentration, motility, and sperm DNA damage. Recent studies explored potential approaches to treat or prevent BPA-induced testicular toxicity and male infertility. Since the effect of BPA on testicular cells and spermatozoa is associated with an increased production of reactive oxygen species, most of the pharmacological approaches are based on the use of natural or synthetic antioxidants. -
