WEEKEND SUGGESTIONS Week 45 INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF NORWAY Oslo Chamber of Commerce WEEKEND SUGGESTIONS Week 45 HI EVERYBODY! Useful tips for the cold season Whether for work, fitness or leisure, walking on icy or snowy pavements or frozen country lanes is not always fun and at times can be quite dangerous. The younger you are the better you may bounce, but it can still be very painful and lead to serious injury… Snowshoe grips or cleats are a good solution. Compact and lightweight they are easily carried in your pocket or the glove compartment in your car for instant use. They fit over regular walking shoes, winter boots and running shoes and are very easy to put on, making them a fast way to take a safe walk. Made of lightweight elastic polymer and hand-wound coiled steel grips, they provide spiked traction to your footwear on any icy surface. Layers, layers, layers During the cold season, it is important to dress with layers. Wool should always be first and closest to the skin. The more layers, the better you are insulated against the cold weather. We also recommend that the outer layer is waterproof and windproof. Remember to always protect your head and neck and to wear thick socks and good winter boots. Children, especially, should always use cold cream and be kept inside when the temperature gets to -10 or below. Are you unsure of anything related to the winter season? Contact us and we will do our best to help you. INN EVENTS 24th November – INN Event: Buying or rental of property INNvitations to the next events will be sent out shortly, stay tuned! It also stands as one of the Peace Prize committee’s most significant and justified decisions, in that the prize went to a fearless pacifist who warned against German remilitarisation in breach of the Treaty of Versailles before WW2. Who was this fearless critic and whistleblower, and why did awarding him the Peace Prize create such a stir? The exhibition "The dangerous prize" takes you behind the scenes of the Peace Prize that shook Europe, and sheds new light on Ossietzky’s life and the work of the Nobel Photo: Johannes Granseth Committee. A human size bird's nest is among the installations in the exhibition KlimaLab, showing at the Nobel Peace Center from april 2019. (Photo: Johannes Granseth / Nobel Peace Center) Apr 15, 2019 13:09 CEST Climate at the Peace Center KlimaLab is a new, large exhibition on climate change at the Nobel Peace Center. Here the whole family can share their thoughts about the climate crisis and be inspired to make changes in their own lives. “Climate change is one of the largest challenges of our time. In many places in the world we see how environmental disasters and climate change lead to human suffering and contribute to the strengthening of differences, unrest and conflict. With the KlimaLab exhibition we hope to get the audience involved in the climate cause and give them the belief that they can contribute to a solution,” says Liv Tørres, Executive Director of the Nobel Peace Center. The ground floor of the Nobel Peace Centre is filled with trees and plants, and tactile art installations to touch and enter into. The exhibition is inspired by the founder of the Nobel Peace Prize, Alfred Nobel, and his idea of acting “for the greatest benefit to humankind”, as well as the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Wangari Maathai, Al Gore and the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, who were all awarded the prize for their work to combat climate change. Next to these Peace Prize Laureates new voices in the debate on climate change are given space in the exhibition. On Friday the 22nd March, 40.000 young people gathered all over Norway to protest about the lack of political action to combat climate change.

  • Chai Release New Single/Video, “Maybe
February 24, 2021 For Immediate Release CHAI RELEASE NEW SINGLE/VIDEO, “MAYBE CHOCOLATE CHIPS” (FEAT. RIC WILSON) NEW ALBUM, WINK, OUT MAY 21ST ON SUB POP CHAI by Yoshio Nakaiso, Ric Wilson by Jackie Lee Young Japanese quartet CHAI present a new single/video, “Maybe Chocolate Chips” (Feat. Ric Wilson), from their forthcoming album, WINK, due May 21st on Sub Pop. CHAI’s past albums have been filled with playful references, in the lyrics, to food, and WINK’s intimate single “Maybe Chocolate Chips” offers an evolution of this motif. Bassist/lyricist YUUKI wanted to write a self-love song about her moles: “Things that we want to hold on to, things that we wished went away. A lot of things happen as we age and with that for me, is new moles! But I love them! My moles are like the chocolate chips on a cookie, the more you have, the happier you become! and before you know it, you're an original♡” Chicago rapper Ric Wilson, who they initially connected with at the 2019 Pitchfork Music Festival, brings smooth vocals over a laidback beat and whirring, dreamy synth. A community activist and artist based on the Southside of Chicago, he got his start with the legendary Young Chicago Authors, the Chicago-based storytelling and poetry organization which helped launch the likes of Noname, Saba, Jamila Woods, Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, Mick Jenkins, and many others. He’s also featured in the accompanying video, directed by Callum Scott-Dyson, which is made of fun collages and video clips in classic CHAI style.

It has been accepted for inclusion in Dissertations - ALL by an authorized administrator of SURFACE. For more information, please contact [email protected]. ABSTRACT This dissertation asks what hiphop is doing in predominantly white higher-educational contexts, specifically in composition classrooms. Using ethnographic, autoethnographic, and historical methods, it finds that hiphop’s work in composition classrooms at PWIs is contradictory. This mixed-methods investigation suggests that the contradictory relation of white fans, students, and institutions to hiphop is shaped on the one hand by white listeners’ increasing identification with the historical struggles of African Americans under capitalism, and on the other hand, by disidentification or abjectification of African Americans in an effort to “win” the zero-sum game of capitalism. This contradiction results in a paradoxical situation where white fans—and white institutions—love hiphop and yet harbor antiblack views about the Black communities and Black students who make hiphop possible. However, the findings also suggest that identifying this tension offers writing instructors an opportunity to be more explicit about working towards anti-racist goals in the hiphop composition classroom. The dissertation’s historical study, ethnographic and autoethnographic studies, and review of contemporary hiphop and composition scholarship suggest that teaching and practicing reflexivity are core solutions to the paradoxical rhetorical action of hiphop in predominantly white spaces.
