    Dear Rally family, dear friends, Welcome to issue six of the FIA Rally Newsletter, which we are pleased to send out following last week’s online meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council on October 9, 2020. Inside are details of the new eighth and final round of this year’s FIA World Rally Championship, the planned calendar for the 2021 WRC, plus an update on some of the recent regulation changes. From a Regional Rally perspective, we are happy that the FIA Middle East Rally Championship title will be awarded in 2020 following a change to the points-scoring system. We are also humbled by the efforts of the Rally of Lebanon organisers to keep moving ahead with their event in November, despite the devastating explosion in Beirut in August and the suffering and disruption that it has caused. Continuing the Regional Rally theme, we are enthused by the progress of Rally3 with the first car, a Ford Fiesta Rally3 from M-Sport Poland, coming to life during a summer of test and development. An update on the work undertaken by the Rally Safety Task Force and how it helped with the successful running of three events in Croatia, San Marino and Portugal can be found in this edition. Everyone in the Rally Department is very proud that the Sporting Regulations for FIA Rally Star have been approved with momentum really building up following the publication of a detailed set of guidelines to help ASNs around the world organise the initial talent detection events. FIA Rally Star will help to uncover and nurture future world champions by encouraging mass participation in the sport at grassroots level.

    PRESS RELEASE 10/12/2013 FIA ERC: SANREMO (OCTOBER 12, 2013) PEUGEOT CLAIMS ITALIAN TITLE MORE HARD TIMES FOR THE PEUGEOT RALLY ACADEMY The 2013 Rallye Sanremo turned out to be a drama-packed and highly emotional roller-coaster ride! The Peugeot Rally Academy lost Jérémi Ancian on SS3, and an ’off’ on Day 1 forced his team-mate Craig Breen to make use of the ‘Rally2’ ruling. Peugeot Italy’s Paolo Andreucci also went ‘off’ while leading. Despite this cascade of incidents, 207S2000 driver Giandomenico Basso went on to clinch the win and hand Peugeot its seventh Italian Manufacturers’ title. Peugeot Sport’s customer competition ambassadors Once again, the challenging Rallye Sanremo provided an eloquent demonstration of the 207 S2000’s potential. Although now in its seventh season, it continues to deliver a winning cocktail of performance and reliability, not only in the case of the cars backed by the brand’s subsidiaries but also those run by privateer customers. “We make no difference between the two,” stresses Peugeot Sport Director Bruno Famin. “They all benefit from the same data, evolutions and recommendations.” In Italy, the 207 S2000 was in dominant form and the nail-biting scrap which opposed different Peugeot teams and drivers went down to the wire. Victory eventually ended up in the hands of Basso after a thrilling duel with Bouffier, despite the Frenchman dropping more than a minute after an ‘off’ on Friday afternoon. He responded by posting an impressive sequence of top times to close to within seven seconds of Basso going into the final stage.

A RENAULT ‘FAMILY’ Jean Rédélé was the first-born son of Madeleine Prieur and Emile Rédélé, a Renault dealer based in Dieppe and a former mechanic of Ferenc Szisz – the first Renault Frères ‘factory driver’, winner of the Grand Prix de la Sarthe in 1906 at Le Mans and runner-up in the Grand Prix de l'A.C.F. in Dieppe in 1907. Louis Renault himself had hired Emile Rédélé right at the beginning of the 20th Century. At the end of the First World War, at the request of Louis Renault, the young Emile Rédélé settled in Dieppe and opened a Renault dealership there in rue Thiers. Two years later, Jean-Emile- Amédée Rédélé was born on May 17, 1922. After completing his studies in Normandy, Jean Rédélé took his Baccalauréat exam during the Second World War and came into contact with people as diverse as Antoine Blondin, Gérard Philipe and Edmond de Rothschild. He chose to be a sub-prefect before settling on a career direction and enrolling at the H.E.C.
