It was named for Horace Greeley, who was once the editor of Greeley County 4-H Building, 905 Ingalls Ave the New York Tribune. Modoc (unincorp.): A post office was established in 1886 Dighton (pop. 1,038): This county seat, which was founded when the town was called Plummer. Leavenworth (pop. 18, 939): Founded in 1854 as the first city Fort Leavenworth (NRHP, NHL): The fort has been in continuous incorporated in Kansas Territory. Fort Leavenworth was established in occupation by the U.S. Army since it was established in 1827 to 1827 by Colonel Henry Leavenworth. The Fort is the oldest active U.S. protect caravans on the . Army post west of the Mississippi and is known as the “Intellectual Center of the Army.” It was the base for the 10th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery: 395 Biddle Blvd. later known as the Buffalo Soldiers. Frontier Army Museum: 100 Reynolds Ave. Over 7,000 items explain Leavenworth attractions: the Fort’s role in the westward expansion of the U.S. 10 am-4 pm. C.W. Parker Carousel Museum: 320 S Esplanade. Features a 1913 Buffalo Soldier Monument and Memorial Park Parker Carry-Us-All carousel as well as three others.
