Stubbs: An Exhibition Opening This Month in Honor of May 4-June 2, 1985 Main Floor West Building The British artist, George Stubbs (1724-1806), best known for his paintings of horses and sporting scenes in , painted other subjects as well, and has recently come to public attention as one of the major artists of the eighteenth century. This exhibition is dedicated to Paul Mellon, one of the first to appreciate and collect Stubbs' paintings. More than thirty works will be on view. This exhibition has been supported by a grant from United Technologies Corporation. Two films, George Stubbs, Painter and Something to Brighten the Morning, will be shown in the East Building Auditorium during May in conjunction STUBBS. Leonardo to Van Gogh: Master Drawings from Budapest May 12-July 14, 1985 Ground Floor Galleries West Building One hundred of the finest European drawings from the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest, go on view in the largest exhibition ever lent by that museum. Presented chronologically, the exhibition carries through the nineteenth century. Artists represented in the exhibition include Leonardo, Raphael, Diirer, Correggio, Rembrandt, Poussin, Watteau, Delacroix, Daumier, Seurat, Cezanne, and van Gogh. The exhibition has been supported by a grant from Occidental Petroleum Corporation.
