A vision statement articulates what the community wishes to keep the same and what it wishes to change over a long period of time – for example 20 years. The statement should paint a picture of what the City will be like at the end of the planning period if the plan is completely successful. Community Issues and Opportunities. This is a list of issues and opportunities that currently face the City and affect the quality of life of its residents, workforce, and property owners. Defining the issues and opportunities helps to set priorities for the rest of the Comprehensive Plan. Identification of Character Areas. The City will be divided into a series of separate areas that cover the entire City. Each area will be given boundaries, a name, and its own vision of how it should develop. Additional stakeholder concerns will be integrated into the Community Participation Program throughout the planning process. This table provides a useful preview of different stakeholder groups and their areas of concern.     Memorandum of Law in Support of Changes to Stone Mountain Park To: Whom It May Concern From: Stone Mountain Action Coalition Date: October 15, 2020 During public discourse regarding the legal entanglement between the Confederacy and Stone Mountain Park (the “Park”), some have argued that the Stone Mountain Memorial Association (“SMMA” or the “Board”) is powerless to make changes to the Park, claiming that the Board’s “hands are tied by the law.” To the contrary, the Board has discretion to make changes under current Georgia state law. Indeed, all boards created by law have discretion. Absent discretion, such entities would be powerless to take actions pursuant to their statutory mandates. Here, that discretion is front and center, listed in the code among the three primary purposes of the SMMA: (1) To preserve the natural areas situated within the Stone Mountain Park area; (2) To provide access to Stone Mountain for Georgia's citizens; and (3) To maintain an appropriate and suitable memorial for the Confederacy. See O.C.G.A. § 12-3-192.1 (emphasis added) (the complete “Stone Mountain Memorial Act,” O.C.G.A. § 12-3-190, et seq. is attached as Exhibit “A”). Thus, the General Assembly explicitly granted the Board discretion as to what is an “appropriate and suitable” memorial to the Confederacy. Page 1 of 11 I.     Club of Rotary Conyers This Week....Tim Echols - Public Service Commission Birthdays A younger Tim Echols was selected by the Atlanta Airport Rotary Club as "Student of the Year" from his high school in 1978. While at the luncheon, Tony Lucas he met Truett Cathy, a member of the Atlanta Airport Rotary Club. After the meeting, Truett invited Tim to come by his Hapeville office and there January 20th gave him a set of motivational tapes and a challenge. Echols said the tapes changed his life and as a result of listening to Zig Ziglar and his Ron Smith teaching, Tim set a goal to be a statewide elected official. January 28th Thua G. Barlay Shortly after graduating from UGA, Tim and his wife Windy founded TeenPact, a training experience for conservative high school students. The January 28th program began at the Georgia Capitol and now operates in 45 states, having trained 50,000 students. After building TeenPact, Echols ran for and Sam Crowe was elected to statewide office in 2010 serving as Public Service Commissioner. February 3rd The PSC's primary job is energy regulation. When Echols took office, Georgia was 34th in solar power. Now, 9 years later the state is 10th in the Tisa Smart- nation in approved solar. In 2020, Conservatives for Clean Energy dubbed Echols the "Solar Architect of Georgia." Washington February 12th Echols has also created the Clean Energy Roadshow that has traveled the state every summer for the last eight years. Fincher, and Mr. Darby. The records for Reinhardt expenses are the most prevalent as well as those for the Bank of Canton. The front of the ledger also contains a postage reference guide dating from 1914. The book is in fair condition apart from some pages that have become detached. Dates range from 1919 - 1931. This is the smaller of the two ledgers in this donation.
