30 Jahre Ford Granada Und Ford Consul (394

AUDI AG 85045 Ingolstadt Germany History of the Four Rings AUDI AG can look back on a very eventful and varied history; its tradition of car and motorcycle manufacturing goes right back to the 19th century. The Audi and Horch brands in the town of Zwickau in Saxony, Wanderer in Chemnitz and DKW in Zschopau all enriched Germany’s automobile industry and contributed to the development of the motor vehicle. These four brands came together in 1932 to form Auto Union AG, the second largest motor-vehicle manufacturer in Germany in terms of total production volume. The new company chose as its emblem four interlinked rings, which even today remind us of the four founder companies. After the Second World War the Soviet occupying power requisitioned and dismantled Auto Union AG’s production facilities in Saxony. Leading company executives made their way to Bavaria, and in 1949 established a new company, Auto Union GmbH, which continued the tradition associated with the four-ring emblem. In 1969, Auto Union GmbH and NSU merged to form Audi NSU Auto Union AG, which since 1985 has been known as AUDI AG and has its head offices in Ingolstadt. The Four Rings remain the company’s identifying symbol. Horch This company’s activities are closely associated with its original founder August Horch, one of Germany’s automobile manufacturing pioneers. After graduating from the Technical Academy in Mittweida, Saxony he worked on engine construction and later as head of the motor vehicle production department of the Carl Benz company in Mannheim. In 1899 he started his own business, Horch & Cie., in Cologne. -

PRODUCT INFORMATION CENTER APRIL 2014 Agenda • In the spotlight • New references • New applications Air, oil, fuel, diesel filters Cabin fiters • Change of status Filters available whilst stock last Filters superseded Filters abandoned www.fram-europe.com In the Spotlight PIC April 2014 Dear customers, This new edition of our quarterly news bulletin, close to the arrival of spring, is the ideal opportunity to speak to you about reduction of emissions. We are proud to let you know about the launch of the new 2.0 Blue HDI engine from PSA, which conforms with Euro VI emissions standards, and on which Sogefi filters are fitted. This DW10F engine, which offers from 135HP up to 180HP and will equip many vehicles like Citroën C4 Picasso, DS3, DS4, Peugeot 308 II and RCZ, is anticipated to meet the Euro 6 standard. This new rule imposes a strict reduction on the nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx); achieved by the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) pollutant-reducing system that is well-known on trucks, but up to now has been very rare on light vehicles. The Sogefi Group has been named as an exclusive tier one supplier of key components for the new PSA Euro 6 compliant diesel engines. According to the vehicle type, Sogefi will be the original filtration equipment provider for air, oil and especially fuel, using a brand new diesel filtration module. This module delivers an exceptionally high filtration, capturing almost all particles bigger than 4µm. This meets the demanding levels of protection needed by the latest generations of Diesel Fuel and Common Rail injectors, ensuring compliance with imminent Euro 6 regulations. -

Front Wheel Drive the Story of Pioneers of the Front Wheel Drive Motorcar
Front Wheel Drive The story of pioneers of the front wheel drive motorcar To most British motorists that think about such things, the Mini, was the beginning of the front wheel drive revolution. The revolutionary concept that was the Mini was it’s packaging. The packing of the engine, gearbox and final drive into a very compact unit, leaving sufficient space in a very small car for four people. The Mini didn’t start the front wheel drive revolution but the packaging revolution that has spread throughout the worlds motor industry. This was made possible because of the developments in front wheel drive technology that had gone on during the previous forty years, but until that time had been almost ignored by the British motor industry. The combination of front wheel drive and efficient packaging has revolutionised the world’s motor industry, being almost universally used, except were considerations of cost and or size are not important. This is the story of those years before the Mini and the pioneers of front wheel drive. From the Carriage to the Horseless Carriage For the thousands of years, from the time of their invention, wheeled vehicles were pulled from the front. This was because it was an inherently stable arrangement, it made steering easier and gave maximum control. This lasted as long as the foot was used to transmit the motive power to the road, but once the wheel was used to transmit the power of an onboard engine to the road the situation changed. This was due to the correct and universal understanding that the front wheels must be used for steering, and as it was so much simpler to drive the none steerable wheels, rear wheel drive became the accepted method used for the pioneer self propelled vehicle. -
