About The Radio Academy Festival

The Radio Academy Festival is one of three core events belonging to the charity The Radio Academy and has been for decades. Created annually for those who work in the radio and audio industry to share and learn through a series of creative sessions across an entire day, the RF is usually held in a large space (most recently the British Library in London) from early in the morning to the evening, with multiple moments for people from right across the industry to network between exceptional sessions.

Generally held together by a theme, the sessions vary from single person keynotes to multiple person panels. In the past we’ve welcomed those in front of the microphone such as Chris Evans, Zoe Ball, Greg James and , along with audio business executives such as outgoing BBC DG Tony Hall, Network controllers and commissioners, commercial radio trailblazers and those from audio platforms such as Spotify, AudioBoom and BBC Sounds. HM Government’s DCMS see the RF as an opportunity to announce new initiatives. The RF is always creative in its approach and is never afraid to break the mould.

For 2020 the RF in its traditional form has had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 health crisis, but lockdown has lifted and the world has started to return to a New Normal, the RA wants to create an online festival in Q3 2020. This should utilise technology from our main sponsor In:Quality – the company that provides high quality AV over IP that has been a life saver for many in the audio business over the crisis, but also take into account Zoom and other domestic platforms to help deliver a quality and robust Festival.
