Information for Transportation 3-28-2017 Information for Transportation 3-28-2017 1. We currently have 3,433 students in the transportation program a. 2,966 students are assigned to a bus /van i. 2,606 students are Public School Students ii. 148 students attend non-public schools iii. 132 students attend Gettysburg Montessori or Vida Charter Schools iv. 80 Students are transported to Special Classes (IU) b. 467 non-riders 2. We transport students on a. 38 School Buses (48 to 81 passenger) b. 36 vans (6-9 passenger) c. 5 Handicapped Accessible Vans d. Also vans shared with other districts though School Express 3. Buses and vans complete 250 different routes per day a. Buses/vans each do between 2 to 5 routes daily 4. We contract with 9 private contractors 5. For the 2015-16 School year actual Transportation Expense was $2,932,268.24 a. $1,703,068.21 For Public School Routes b. $322,101.08 for Non-Public Routes c. $902,856.80 for Special Needs and homeless students Routes d. $4,242.15 for Afterschool Tutoring Transportation home (High School) State Subsidy received for Transportation for 2015-16 is $1,910,203.47 (65.1%) .

    NEW ISSUE—BOOK-ENTRY ONLY RATING: Moody’s: “Aa3” (Underlying) (See “RATING” herein) In the opinion of Bond Counsel, under existing statutes, regulations and judicial decisions, interest on the Bonds is excluded from gross income for purposes of federal income taxation and is not a specific preference item for purposes of the federal alternative minimum tax imposed on individuals and corporations, although Bond Counsel observes that it is included in adjusted current earnings in calculating corporate alternative minimum taxable income for taxable years that began prior to January 1, 2018. This opinion of Bond Counsel is subject to continuing compliance by the School District with its covenants in the Resolution and other documents to comply with requirements of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, and applicable regulations thereunder. Bond Counsel is also of the opinion that under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (the “Commonwealth”) as presently enacted and construed, the Bonds are exempt from personal property taxes in the Commonwealth and the interest on the Bonds is exempt from the Commonwealth‘s Personal Income Tax and the Commonwealth’s Corporate Net Income Tax.
