THE BRUISE BROTHERS--The Royals enter tonight second in the American League in hit by pitches with 77, three shy of the league leading Rays (80)...Alex Gordon, who missed six weeks of the season, is tied for fourth in the league by setting a career-high with 14 (he was hit 13 times during his rookie year of 2007)...Mike Moustakas is tied for seventh in the A.L. with a career-high 13, while Lorenzo Cain is tied for ninth with a career-high dozen plunkings. MOOSE’S CAREER YEAR--The re-invention of Mike Moustakas as a hitter has been deemed a success as the 27-year old has now established career highs in hits (149), home runs (21), RBI (76), runs scored (70) and walks (41) with five games remaining on the slate...his .281 batting average will end up a career-best, topping the .263 mark from his rookie campaign of 2011, while it’s currently 69 points higher than his 2014 mark. POSTSEASON EXPERIENCE THIS TIME AROUND--Though the 25-man roster for the first playoff game is a week away from being decided, the Royals will go in with much more experience in October baseball, which was a far cry from last year...when Kansas City set its roster for the Wild Card game last year, 20 of the 25 players eligible had not played in a postseason game...when Kansas City takes the field on October 8, the number will be almost reversed...the biggest dry spell to be snapped will be that of Alex Rios, who at the age of 34 has been a Major Leaguer since 2004 with Toronto, the Chicago White Sox and prior to signing with the Royals, but will experience his first postseason action...Drew Butera, a big leaguer since 2010 with the Twins, Dodgers and Angels will also get his first look at playoff baseball. DIVISIONAL WORK--The Royals are 39-32 within the Central, with five to go vs. division rivals...KC finished its regular season work against the A.L. West at 20-12... the Royals went 18-16 vs. the East and finished with a 13-7 mark vs. the this year...dating back to the start of 2014, KC has the best Interleague record in the Majors at 28-12 (Toronto is next at 25-15).
