Mass song, instrumental music and MPB: a journey of baião. Abstract: Inside the large and varied Brazilian popular music production, baião appears as a musical segment strongly connected to ideas of “tradition” and “Brazilianess”. Knowing this repertoire and its constitutive musical elements (such as grooves, scales and melodic patterns) is presented as a precondition for playing “genuinely” Brazilian music. -

Two Essays on Various Selves
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Mark Price for the degree of Masters of Art in Interdis- ciplinary Studies in the co-departments of English, English, and History presented on May 4, 1989. Title: TRIALS OF FORM: TWO ESSAYS ON VARIOUS SELVES Abstract approved: Redacted for Privacy Suzanne Clark TRIALS OF FORM: TWO ESSAYS ON VARIOUS SELVES I. Letters from Ruth: Since the 1950s, my grandmother's children have been scattered across the nation from the family farm in Iowa. My family came to Oregon in the early '60s. Since then, my grandmother has kept track of all her children and grandchildren and helped them keep track of each other. In this essay, I examine how my grandmother creates a sense of continuity among the family through her scrapbooks and letters. II. The Walking Circle: In the late '70s,I was a teenager in Bend, Oregon, dreaming of becoming a great writer. I walked around Bend late at night and filled many notebooks with my aspirations. In this essay,I look back into those notebooks from the perspective of a summer job I had ten years later. Bolig American Discography Project UC Santa Barbara Library © 2017 John R. Bolig. All rights reserved. ii The Victor Discography Series By John R. Bolig The advent of this online discography is a continuation of record descriptions that were compiled by me and published in book form by Allan Sutton, the publisher and owner of Mainspring Press. When undertaking our work, Allan and I were aware of the work started by Ted Fa- gan and Bill Moran, in which they intended to account for every recording made by the Victor Talking Machine Company. We decided to take on what we believed was a more practical approach, one that best met the needs of record collectors. Simply stat- ed, Fagan and Moran were describing recordings that were not necessarily published; I believed record collectors were interested in records that were actually available. We decided to account for records found in Victor catalogs, ones that were purchased and found in homes after 1901 as 78rpm discs, many of which have become highly sought- after collector’s items. The following Victor discographies by John R. Bolig have been published by Main- spring Press: Caruso Records ‐ A History and Discography GEMS – The Victor Light Opera Company Discography The Victor Black Label Discography – 16000 and 17000 Series The Victor Black Label Discography – 18000 and 19000 Series The Victor Black -

Kwaku’s work is a testament to Brent’s contribution to the evolution of British black music and the commercial infrastructure to support it. His research contained separate sections on labels, shops, artists, radio stations and sound systems. In this version we have amalgamated these into a single ‘encyclopedia’ and added entries that cover the period between 2007-2020. The process of gathering Brent’s musical heritage is an ongoing task - there are many incomplete entries and gaps. If you would like to add to, or alter, an entry please send an email to [email protected] 3 4 4 HERO An influential group made up of Dego and Mark Mac, who act as the creative force; Gus Lawrence and Ian Bardouille take care of business. -
Settimanale Di Migros Ticino Quello Swing Perduto
