Inline Tube - at the Chicago - Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals 210
Inline Tube - At the Chicago - Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals 210 For years we have been saying if someone created a show for all national winning muscle cars it would be off the hook. It has now happened. In 2008 Bob Ashton has took over and reorganized the Chicago Chevy Vette Show to include all muscle cars and re-named the show "Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals". The show is now open to all makes and models of muscle cars. What makes this show truly unique is that it is an autorama style show that is all indoor and under one roof. The cars are displayed with information telling about the particular cars and the hoods, trunks and doors are open and many with the wheels off to show every detail of the restoration. This is a application entry show so you must send in photos of your car for consideration to be accepted into the show field. This year there were over 500 cars on the show floor and the competition was stiff. This show will certainly turn into one of the premier events for muscle car showings in the country. Inline tube was proud to display our 1972 442 W-30 with the many customer cars on the show floor. Inline tube is a company that manufactures high quality concourse level restoration parts for classic cars and trucks. We attend events to show car guys that; with some hard work and the right parts your project could turn out like ours. At this event there was no shortage of high end cars displaying Inline Tube products. -
CHEVROLETTER June 2020
CHEVROLETTER June 2020 Vol 2020 Issue 6.0 Director’s Report June 2020 I hope the beginning of June finds all our members in good health and managing the sheltering in place restrictions. New Covid-19 rates on Long Island are down over 90% compared to our worst times so we must be making a difference. I do not know how the lower infection rates and Cuomo’s planned phases will affect the remainder of the 2020 car show season. The AACA has cancelled their major event at Hershey in October. this is the first time since Hershey will not be having a swap meet and car corral. I am told there is still a possibility of having the vehicle judging on Saturday. Carlisle rescheduled their spring event and are hoping to hold more swap meets as soon as conditions allow. People are getting very innovative to enjoy their cars in a safe a responsible way. I have seen groups of cars at Sunken Meadow Park with a circle of guys socially distanced and chatting. My Wednesday Bagel Chalet group now meets in the parking lot with their cars. I have been in a few rolling car shows thru local neighborhoods to give the residents a bit of a lift. Our club member, Peter Sarros planned a commemorative run thru Huntington Hospital to thank all the front line workers. What started as a small event quickly grew into a multi club event and food drive for the Huntington Cares foundation. There were over 80 cars in attendance, a motorcycle color guard and a police presence to control traffic. -

THE HOOD SCOOP March 2018
THE HOOD SCOOP March 2018 GTO of the Month By Bob Blattel Hello, my name is Bob Blattel and I have been a member of the GTO club for about thirteen years. I’ve lived in the St. Charles area for about 40 years. My wife Chris and I raised four children, two boys and two girls. I enjoy hobbies that include magic, astronomy, model trains, inde- pendent movies, old board game collecting and last, but not least, muscle cars. While growing up in north St. Louis, I did not own any cool cars. My first car was actually a 6-cylinder 1963 Chevrolet Bel Air with a three on the tree shifter. The car was in pretty poor shape. The thought of owning a muscle car as an adult never crossed my INSIDE THIS ISSUE: mind until my birthday in September of 2005. My wife suggested renting a GTO of the Month 1 classic car for a day. I’m not really a The Presidents Scoop 4 car guy, so I got on the internet and found a web site called, “Classic Cars Vehicle Appraisals 8 Plus.” They rented classic cars! The Frick Pittsburgh Presents Cast in Chrome: the Art of Hood Ornaments
Contact: Kaitlyn Clem For Immediate Release Marketing and Communications Associate 412-342-4025 [email protected] THE FRICK PITTSBURGH PRESENTS CAST IN CHROME: THE ART OF HOOD ORNAMENTS New exhibition on view at the Car and Carriage Museum April 24 - October 31, 2021 PITTSBURGH, PA, April 15, 2021 – This spring, The Frick Pittsburgh celebrates some of the automobile industry’s most instantly recognizable and intricately crafted artistic motifs with the opening of Cast in Chrome: The Art of Hood Ornaments at the Car and Carriage Museum on Saturday, April 24. This special exhibition explores the evolution of these miniature works of art, from their inception in the 1910s as a means of monitoring radiator temperature to their transformation into expressions of status and personal expression throughout the early 20th century. Cast in Chrome, which features more than 30 hood ornaments, and three cars on loan, in addition to objects from the Frick’s permanent collection, will be organized thematically with sections devoted to female figures, animals, mythology, art-deco-inspired motifs, and the great space race─ when airplanes and rockets made their way onto hoods. Each theme will be accompanied by a featured automobile marque from the 1920s through 1940s, a selection of illustrative hood ornaments, and clothing from the period. Visitors can expect to see some of the most iconic hood ornament emblems including Rolls- Royce’s famous Spirit of Ecstasy, represented by the Frick’s 1923 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Salamanca town car, and Lincoln’s greyhound ornament on Helen Clay Frick’s 1931 Lincoln Model K Dual Cowl Phaeton. -

Giant Collection Of Old Radiator Caps And Hood Ornaments A lot of old cars and pickups made from about 1900 to the mid 1940’s came equipped with radiator cap “mascots” and hood ornaments, many of them quite beautiful. Collecting the ornaments has become a hobby for some, including Mike Kleba of Mallorytown, Ontario. Kleba buys, swaps, and sells ornaments. “I have one of the biggest collections in North America and am always looking for more,” says Kleba, who has about 500 ornaments. “I used to work in the electro 1934-35 Chevrolet pickup hood ornament. plating business refinishing old car parts, where I learned a lot about the designs of old cars. Microfilmed - 1064 Information to Users
MICROFILMED - 1064 INFORMATION TO USERS This reproduction was made from a copy of a document sent to us for microfilming. While the most advanced technology has been used to photograph and reproduce this document, the quality of the reproduction is heavily dependent upon the quality of the material submitted. The following explanation of techniques is provided to help clarify markings or notations which may appear on this reproduction. 1. The sign or “target” for pages apparently lacking from the document photographed is “Missing Page(s)”. If it was possible to obtain the missing page(s) or section, they ari spliced into the film along with adjacent pages. This may have necessitated cutting through an image and duplicating adjacent pages to assure complete continuity. 2. When an image on the film is obliterated with a round black mark, it is an indication of either blurred copy because of movement during exposure, duplicate copy, or copyrighted materials that should not have been filmed. For blurred pages, a good image of the page can be found in the adjacent frame. If copyrighted materials were deleted, a target note wfll appear listing the pages in the adjacent frame. 3. When a map, drawing or chart, etc., is part of the material being photographed, a definite method of “sectioning” the material has been followed. It is customary to begin filming at the upper left hand comer o f a large sheet and to continue from left to right in equal sections with small overlaps. If necessary, sectioning is continued again—bepnning below the first row and continuing on until complete. -

Being an avid motorcycle enthusiast, he had a pair of his personal bikes done up in this same color scheme and was pleased enough with it that he made a suggestion to Pontiac Design Stu- dio #2 Director John Schinella that he apply it to a Trans Am. Schinella requisitioned a Buccaneer Red 455 automatic ‘73 Trans Am which was deliv- ered to the Design Center paint shop, where the entire car — including the rear bumper — was painted a custom black metallic lacquer with gold metalflakes mixed in. The tailpipes, grilles and head- light bezels were painted metallic gold and the Hon- eycomb wheels were covered with a genuine gold coating. Gold pinstriping was then applied around the grille openings, wheel arches, rear bumper, the upper portion of the car, around all of the glass openings and over the roof. Finally, special one-off Trans Am decals (including the hood bird, made from a gold foil) were applied. 22 SMOKE SIGNALS • FEBRUARY 2017 has Split Personality earliest known production Y82 in existence photos - various contributors Inside, the otherwise stock Trans Am Deluxe inte- rior was redone in a light tan with a parachute-silk fabric on the horsecollar buckets.
