Insurance Corner DON'T ASSUME YOU CAN'T AFFORD DI

One of the biggest mistakes you can make regarding disability insurance is to assume you can't afford it or you won't qualify. Before you make that assumption, do some basic research and apply for coverage through the Knights of Co- lumbus. The Order's Income Armor product gives you options that can help you fit this critical protection into your risk management budget. For example, here are 2 ways you can reduce your premium:

1. Choose a 2-year or 5-year maximum benefit period. Depending on your age, the best option is probably a policy that pays benefits until you reach age 67. But a 2-year or 5-year maximum benefit period would cover many types of partial or total disabilities you might encounter in your working life.

2. Choose a longer elimination period. An elimination period is the number of days a total disability must exist before benefits begin to accrue. Typical elimination periods are 90, or 180 days. Choosing a longer elimination period low- ers the policy's premium. But be sure you have enough set aside in the contingency fund of your business to ac- count for the longer gap.

As your professional insurance agent, running a small business and the challenges of risk management are two of my specialties. Let's talk about how to protect your business income, you retirement needs, and your family's financial fu- ture.

May Monthly Prayer By tradition, the dedicates each month of the year to a certain devo- tion. In May, it is the Blessed Virgin Mary. This devotion arose among Jesuits in Rome in the late 18th century and quickly spread throughout the Western Church. By the time of Pope Pius IX's declaration of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception in 1854, it had become universal. May crownings and other special May events in honor of Mary, such as public recitation of the , stem from this time. The Hail Holy Queen (also commonly known by its Latin name, the Salve Regina) is one of four special anthems to the Mother of God that have traditionally been part of the Liturgy of the Hours, and which vary depending on the season. In the Traditional Latin Mass, these anthems are also usually sung at a High Mass, either at the end of the Mass or during Holy Communion. In the Liturgy of the Hours, the Hail Holy Queen is recited from Trinity Sunday (the Sunday after Pentecost Sunday) until the Saturday before Advent. This prayer is also commonly said at the end of the rosary, in morning prayers, and during the prayers at the end of a Low Mass in the Traditional Latin Mass.

Hail Holy Queen Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! Our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

For the Grace of Love was written by Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val (1865-1930), the secretary of state for Pope Saint Pius X. It reminds us that Mary is the perfect example of the Christian life, who in her own actions shows us true love for Christ.

For the Grace of Love O Mary, my dear Mother, how much I love thee! And yet in reality how little! Thou dost teach me what I ought to know, for thou teachest me what Jesus is to me and what I ought to be for Jesus. Dearly beloved Mother, how close to God thou art, and how utterly filled with Him! In the measure that we know God, we remind ourselves of thee. Mother of God, obtain for me the grace of loving my Jesus; obtain for me the grace of loving thee!
