Urban Aeronautics is developing Fancraft, a family of internal rotor aircraft designed to meet existing FAA certification standards. A suite of patented aerodynamic innovations ensure that Fancraft, while retaining the hover and safety advantages of a ducted fan design, have unique aerodynamic advantages that maintain stability and forward speed. Internal rotors, compact size and precise, six-degrees-of-freedom maneuverability enable Fancraft to fly in areas inaccessible even to helicopters. This places UrbanAero firmly in the lead in the effort to develop aircraft that can fly in urban and other obstructed airspace.
UrbanAero’s first Fancraft prototype, AirMule, is currently in flight testing. AirMule is designed to fulfill unmanned cargo resupply, CasEvac and other missions in wartime as well as civil emergency response during natural disasters. UrbanAero’s follow-on Fancraft models include the manned Centaur and X-Hawk, both designed to meet FAA certification standards and to fulfill military and civilian missions.
