Call Number: Archival Collection 26 Quantity: 931 cubic feet (514 flat archival boxes, 98 clamshell boxes, 29 filing cabinets, 18 record center cartons, 15 glass plate boxes, 8 oversize boxes). Abstract: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers 1905-2011 contain his extensive research files, photographs, and prints on a wide variety of automotive topics. The papers reflect the complexity and breadth of Ludvigsen’s work as an author, researcher, and consultant. Approximately 70,000 of his photographic negatives have been digitized and are available on the Revs Digital Library. Thousands of undigitized prints in several series are also available but the copyright of the prints is unclear for many of the images. Ludvigsen’s research files are divided into two series: Subjects and Marques, each focusing on technical aspects, and were clipped or copied from newspapers, trade publications, and manufacturer’s literature, but there are occasional blueprints and photographs. Some of the files include Ludvigsen’s consulting research and the records of his Ludvigsen Library. Scope and Content Note: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers are organized into eight series. The series largely reflects Ludvigsen’s original filing structure for paper and photographic materials. Series 1. Subject Files [11 filing cabinets and 18 record center cartons] The Subject Files contain documents compiled by Ludvigsen on a wide variety of automotive topics, and are in general alphabetical order.

  • Historia: 911 Turbo, Por Su Cola Le Conoceréis

  • Motorsport Pistons and Cylinders Kits 01
01 Motorsport Pistons and Cylinders Kits MAHLE’s relationship with Porsche dates back to Porsche’s beginning. Together we have developed some of the best competition and sports car engines available throughout the last nine decades. MAHLE Motorsports North America has taken the extensive experience gained from its relationship with Porsche to develop a series of performance and racing piston and cylinder kits. These kits were designed for high performance applications and are modern adaptations of the original or aftermarket kits; therefore there may be visual differences that are intentional and beneficial to the performance, durability and longevity of the components. PP98-013 Slipper Skirt PP80-001 Forging Design The pistons are machined from forgings with narrower and shorter skirts to reduce weight and friction. They are then dual coated, with Phosphate and MAHLE’s proprietary Grafal® skirt coating. The phosphate is a dry film lubricant designed to help protect the pin bores from galling and ring grooves from micro-welding. The Grafal® anti-friction skirt coating is designed to reduce drag, wear and noise. The kits are supplied with modern ring sets made from stronger more durable materials that are dimensionally narrower and shorter to be more conformable providing more consistent contact with the cylinders resulting in increased sealing and oil control. 02 Motorsport Air-Cooled Cylinders PC84-001 PC98-001 PC102-001 / 002 The cylinders included in Motorsports air-cooled kits are produced and machined to original equipment tolerances, designed to provide increased performance, durability and longevity. Some applications are available as either a slip-in or machine-in design.

Porsche 911 classic (19631989)[edit] Porsche 911 of 1968 Main article: Porsche 911 classic The 911 can trace its roots back to sketches drawn by Ferdinand "Butzi" Porsche in 1959.[6] The Porsche 911 was developed as a much more powerful, larger, more comfortable replacement for the Porsche 356, the company's first model. The new car made its public debut at the 1963[1] Frankfurt Motor Show (German: Internati onale Automobil-Ausstellung).[7] The car was developed with proof-of-concept twi n fan Type 745 engine, and the car presented at the auto show had a non-operatio nal mockup of the production single fan 901 engine, receiving a working one in F ebruary 1964.[6] It originally was designated as the "Porsche 901" (901 being its internal projec t number). 82 cars were built as 901s.[6] However, Peugeot protested on the grou nds that in France it had exclusive rights to car names formed by three numbers with a zero in the middle. So, instead of selling the new model with another nam e in France, Porsche changed the name to 911. Internally, the carEight/> Product ion began in September 1964,[7] the first 911s reached the US in February 1965 w ith a price tag of US$6,500.[6] Porsche 911E with Fuchs wheels, 1969 The earliest edition of the 911 had a 130 metric horsepower (96 kW; 128 hp)[1] T ype 901/01 flat-6 engine, in the "boxer" configuration like the 356, air-cooled and rear-mounted, displaced 1991 cc compared with the 356's four-cylinder, 1582 cc unit.

  • Cabriolet Returns to Porsche® 911® Turbo Lineup for 2004
Contact: Bob Carlson Martin Peters Manager, Motoring Press Manager, Business and Lifestyle Press 770-290-3676 (770) 290-3667 Jody Scott Product Publicity Specialist 770-290-3764 CABRIOLET RETURNS TO PORSCHE® 911® TURBO LINEUP FOR 2004 ATLANTA – Not since the days of the legendary Porsche 930 has Porsche offered a turbocharged cabriolet… until now. For the 2004 model year, the new Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet takes its place beside the awesome Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe in the company’s model lineup. From 1987 to 1989, the Porsche 930, as the first Turbo was code-named within the company, set milestones in the history of open-air sports cars. That original Porsche 930 Turbo Cabriolet had a 3.3-liter horizontally opposed “boxer” six-cylinder engine with only two valves per cylinder, yet it produced 300 horsepower and could sprint from a standing start to 62 mph (100 km/h ) in only 5.2 seconds on its way to a top track-test speed of 161 mph (259 km/h). For 2004, the new Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet draws its power from the same 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged engine as the Porsche Turbo Coupe, so it delivers 415 horsepower (SAE) and 415 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe and Cabriolet are designed for long-distance Calm, not chaos comfort as well as high performance, with equipment such as a Bose® digital audio system, leather seating and available features like the Porsche Communication Management system with navigation and a 5.8-inch color monitor. The 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet comes with a fully automatic three-piece Cabriolet top top that opens in a Z-configuration and folds down into a compartment behind goes up or down the rear seat.
